Long lived high mileage rides

The new R1300GS has a feature where if it detects its on its side, it will call Emergency Services on your behalf.

After the first week of ownership, my bike would probably flash this message on the TFT dash: "You have exceeded your allotted SOS calls for the year. Please purchase an additional year's worth of Emergency Services. Danke Schoen."

well, fork.
Starbucks baristas are trained to lift BMWs - they get you upright and latte’d before BMW emergency services gets there.

My old man and his best friend bought identical 1987 1100 Suzukis when they were released. He ended up selling it in 2000 for a Hayabusa, but had 195,000 kms on the 1100 with absolutely no issues - just regular maintenance. His friend sold his 1100 with 175,000kms on it and got a ZX12. There's something to be said for the reliability of Suzuki motors.

My fave all time Suzy was a TS200R. I chose it over a killer. At 265 lbs, 2t and 6 gears vit was way more fun that the porkier KLR 400lbs, 5 gears. Tradeoff was range.

That bike went 24000km before top end service.
