Long Distance Riding - Seat Comfort Suggestions?

I have Corbin and Alasakan Sheepskin pad as I mentioned before. Love the combo for winter/spring/fall riding.
But in summer was still a bit hot. So inspired by this thread I ordered ceramic beadrider and got it couple of days ago, put around 400 clicks so far and f..ng love it! Perfect for hot summer days, no monkey butt so far, etc.
Keep in mind - quite slippery in textile pants but no sliding in leathers.

Yeah my son noticed the slippery - my Daylong is like a tractor seat so I stay put but it's nice to be able to shift around a bit without anything bunching up. Glad it worked out.

I popped into Ikea today and picked up a sheekskin. This week I venture out on another 2,500 km ride and the thought of a sore butt at the end of it made me shudder in anticipation.

Please give a review of the sheepskin if you can. I don't like the idea of spending a lot of money on one if the Ikea product will get the job done.

The stock saddle on my ST was uncomfortable and slippery so I traded the OEM seat plus $100.00 for a Corbin I found online at ST-Owners. I don't put anything over it and have found it to be comfortable for 1000 km days. The problem is everyone's butt is different and what is comfy for one, may be awful for another.

I wonder how much this issue affects motorcycle sales? Ive found that a lot of seats slant toward the tank (which is good if you are doing 150 kph all of the time) and I find that I get my pants sticking to the seat but my body sliding down toward the tank. This makes the "boys" very uncomfortable.

I bought a gel car seat cover and had it cut and resewn to fit my bike seat. The cover cost me $9.99 and seamstress billed me $14.90.

I ended up with a very comfortable seat with great airflow around the butt to prevent the dreaded "Monkey Butt". I also ride in dry-fit (no cotton underwear) and a healthy supply of Monkey Butt powder. Long distance riding is no problem as a result.

Speaking of monkey butt, I never had even a slightest issue with it. I never wear cotton underwear, only microfiber, dri-fit, or whatever Duponts of the world decide to call it this week (bicycle shorts are great too). Apart from good underwear I think the key factor is to be able to move in the seat, so no rubber pants :). I found Corbin great in that respect - plenty of room to move but not too slippery so the butt stays in place. I'd avoid any seat that forces you to sit in one position, no matter how comfy it may seem.

speaking of undies - where do you guys buy dri-fit and stuff? I went to MEC today and closest thing they had were bicycle shorts with what resembles always maxi pad inside

Try Tilley's. Their travel gear - shirts, pants, socks, underwear, even their travel pants - are spectactular. Expensive, but worth it - and great customer service.

Cool - there is shop on Don Mills, I'll check it out this week.

I checked Tilley's site - undies are pricey! 32 bucks a pair. I will still check them but is there anything else, more budget friendly?

Most of the better brands tend to be. Ex-Officio is another one. MEC had a pretty good offering: $11/pair polypro hiking underwear. The fit wasn't constricting and the material was thinner, flat seams, etc.

Target and Walmart have similar offerings, but I've never tried them.

I managed to snag a half-dozen pairs before they were discontinued.

My Beadrider arrived in the mail. I'll know if MacDoc's been fibbing shortly.

MEC has dri-fit underwear without the bicycle padding. It's in the long underwear section. I bought a pair a few weeks ago. Really good quality. $17ea.

Thanks - I don't know how I did not see it today.

I love my beadrider so far. Only as I said its a bit slick if I am wearing textile but works real good with leathers

I just rode today in my MEC mid-thigh length underpants (relatively thick, but no padding or any other special gimmicks). Nothing else I have is as good for a long ride. Elastic and tight but not constricting in any way. Stitches are flat and it doesn't fold anywhere. My only complaint is that the waist band is a little tight, but I have my "molson muscle" to blame for that.

I stopped wearing cotton underpants years ago. I have Jockey, Stanfield's and Kalvin Klein, all bought on sales in Bay or in Winners.

Tilley's is pretty good, but not as good as it's expensive. I have a couple of pairs of their socks and they are quite good, but I prefer Fox River for both comfort and price. I wear them from +5 to +45.

Thank you very much good Sir! For spring, fall and early winter I usually wear MEC thingies, they almost reach ankle and they are awesome

$8 for T is not a bad price. Cheapest I found were Champions at costco during winter - I got 3, they were 9.99
