Local source for metric to NPT adapter?

I have a 1/8" NPT oil pressure gauge kit I need to attach to my bike which has an M10x1.0 straight hole. So I need an adapter with M10x1.0 straight male on one end and 1/8" NPT female on the other. Anyone know where I can get one locally?

The kit actually includes a number of brass(?) adapters, but the M10x1.0 is tapered and only threads in 1/3 of the way before resisting. It's going into a magnesium/unobtanium case - is the brass significantly soft enough to not cause damage if I crank it down to seal?

When I had this same problem, I made an adapter.
There is the exact part you want that is on a Honda front brake... can't remember WHAT Honda....

In the past, for weird adaptors I buy a male plug and drill/tap what I need. In your case, start with an M10x1 straight plug, drill with R (21/64") and then tap.

Edit:
On second thought, isn't 1/8 npt almost the same size at m10? If so, ignore my plan. You need something more complicated to give you the meat you need. Maybe m10x1 nipple to female cap and then tap that but I'm still not sure if that is enough meat.

Actually, you gave me a thought - can I do the opposite and run an M10x1.0 die over the M10x1.0 tapered end to make it straight?

I don't know. I havent tried that. How expensive/hard to get is the part if that screws it up?

If there is a machined face around the M10x1.0 hole, that is a similar arrangement to a brake line fitting. If you have space around the hole on at least one side, you could use a banjo bolt and fitting and crush washers same as for brake lines, and then do the adapting on the hose side of it.

I used to go to Cisco for stuff like that. They are still there, on Dixie, E. side, just north of the 401. Next to the burger joint, south of Shawson. I think they have changed the name, and may not have the varied inventory that they used to.

Just wrap Teflon tape around the threads, you won’t have to tighten it to much to keep it from leaking.. I’m assuming this for testing and not permanent. Otherwise your idea of running the die will work

Teflon tape should never be near oil or hydraulics. Pieces can break off, plug passages and ruin your day. Use pipe dope if you want something there.

Try these folks, They usually have everything you'll need.

I've been dealing with them for many yrs when i run a service truck locally

The best way to determine the right fitting is to look at the plug that was originally in the hole. If it's straight thread,+ crush washer then your adapter will need to be the same. If it's a tapered plug, it's designed for a tapered fitting -- a straight fitting + crush washer may leak.

This is what you're looking for:

As expected, my initial plan wouldn't work. Too close in diameter. As for that specific listing, picture shows stainless, reviews say brass and specs say painted. Your guess is as good as mine what you would receive.

Probably a poorly written or translated Chinese item. There are 1/2 a dozen options in various materials on Amazon.ca from $10-$25 - it's a simple part, any of them should work.

There would be room, but that just moves the adapter to another part of the hose, plus needing a short enough banjo as well now (so it doesn't protrude too far into the case). At least right now I know exactly what I need, just need to find somewhere that has it in stock locally.

The problem is they don't usually specify straight vs. tapered, and the one that did is $100 and will take a while to deliver.

Since that one had a crush washer, assuming the part shipped matches the picture and they slightly understand fittings (I know, I am asking a lot), that should be straight. No tapered fitting should have a crush washer.

Cisco was the first place I thought of, but I think it's now Grainger. Problem is that their inventory is TOO varied now.

Yes, this is exactly what I need, and it's the same brand as the one I found earlier for $100. I will order this for Monday delivery if I can't find it locally today. Thanks!
