I dunno what made that vette a "stage 2" but its 500hp stock....

Impressive trap time on the 1/4. GTR shows some AWD launch dominance.

No worries,

it only took GM nearly forever to realize if they want to be "world class" with the vette, it needs its engine in the middle, like the next gen Vette will have.

The Camaro can easily fill the current void the vet would leave. Why have two similar cars in similar classes with similar power trains as is the state today? Even Ford knew this with the front engine Ford Mustang, and mid engine Ford GT set up..

I still can't wrap my head around whats going through the minds of the management at GM.....
They've been throwing around mid-engined Corvette ideas for decades, it never happens and it shouldn't.

The Corvette has actually carved out a pretty sweet market niche for itself, where tradition and technology combine conveniently to create a product that in many ways is one of a kind. The price/performance metric is a testament to that. It doesn't need a wholesale philosophical change now, especially since it's just caught up to the competition in terms of performance, style, and (almost) quality.

Chevrolet management will never be Honda management. That's all you need to understand.

You were saying?........

Mark Reuss, head of global product development for GM and the next corvette....

They're developing a mid engine car. Its not necessarily a Corvette. See how that works?

Harris definitely puts out the most entertaining car videos. He's Top Gear without the fluff.

I've driven a Chrysler 300 SRT8 - platform-mate to a Charger; same car underneath - plenty strong, although not Hellcat strong. Definitely good power, but "pig" is a good description for the chassis - it's just too big, too heavy, with steering that's too isolated for my liking. Adding more power doesn't fix the steering, the size, or the weight.

There is absolutely NO chance of a Chrysler LD/LX-platform vehicle, no matter what engine you put in it, to "hang with" a Z06 Corvette, or even a standard model Corvette, on pavement that is anything but a straight line. It's not designed for that sort of thing.

If you are looking for a muscle car and need a family car, the stronger versions of the LD/LX are a good choice, but you are not buying a sports car.

If I wanted a performance sedan I'd look at the CTS-V long before I even considered the hell cat. I'm waiting for the ats-v to have it's bugs worked out for a new family mover.

I call BS on this one. Clearly the guy driving the 918 wasn't capable.

It's not "BS", as it actually happened and was recorded for all to see... but it certainly wasn't the same driver. Regardless, the guys driving the lightning laps for C/D aren't nobodies, and they have a lot of time to set the cars up and keep lapping to get the best times with leading edge datalogging and timing equipment. The guy who set the 918's time also set their overall record, so he's gotta be decent.

Same driver in both cars? The 918 has to take it (I should hope, considering its 10x pricetag)... but by how much? The fact that the Z06 bested it by 2 seconds is staggering. Retarded fast car, that's all there is to it.

It doesn't matter how many LeMans wins a Corvette holds, or how many Nordschliffe records either, it doesn't matter that it would outperform an NSX at half the price.. Sunny will never admit that it's a capable car simply because it's made by GM. His schtick is getting pretty old....
