More conventional because it will work, a motorcycle frame only has 2 hinges and those hinges need to be connected to one another as direct and strong as possible.
That Segway has the frame member connections that make sense, structural continuity between the steering head hinge and the swing-arm pivot hinge with the motor directly connected to that same part of the frame. I'd buy that bike expecting it to handle well and not come to pieces, but not the artistic conception.
... not seeing the technical advantage of the open hub design unless the goal is to transfer lots of weight to the rear wheel and make it follow the uneven road surface :/ that is called unsprung weight and is also considered counter-productive to a good handling motorcycle.
