Lightcycle's New Ride!

So... when is all this snow gonna melt?!?

Beauty! Congrats.

Congrats Lightcycle, that’s a great runaround/play bike. I spent an afternoon riding all the fun Ducati bikes and the Hyper was a blast of a hooligan bike.

I don't know. He was not feeling the XR as the legs were too long (power/speed not height). I don't think a SDR will improve that situation.
Super Duke would cure the lower torque curve I was looking for, but I’d get the current gen one for sure.

It's going to want to drift in the summer anyway, might as well break it in in the snow.

What took the pic? I was having real problems with colour temperature.

Was it new or used? SP doesn't come with Termi's out of the box does it?

Yep. I just registered it at ICBC today. No way I can have this thing just sitting in the garage not being ridden.

First pic was taken with my cell phone camera, second pic with a Nikon D7100 DSLR. Color difference might be because of the camera, but it's probably because the first pic was taken in the shade inside the van and the second in bright sunlight.

Bike is brand new, I put the deposit down first week of November. I ordered it from an out-of-town dealer because they were the only ones that had allocation and it was scheduled for a late November delivery.

Obviously that date came and went... As well as many other dates thrown at me over the last three months...

This isn't my first COVID-era bike purchase, so I kinda expected this. Plus five feet of snow all around me, so no stress on my end.

Correct. The Termis are a dealer-installed factory option. Just slip-ons, because I'm not an F-n baller.

I did look into ordering the full-system Termis, but it's a two-into-one with a side-mount, which I didn't like the look of. I prefer undertail exhausts. The Can-Du-Jour for the Hyper these days are SC Projects, but I've always been a Termi guy - all my Ducs have had them. Kind of old-fashioned that way.

The Termis do come with some nice detailing, like the exhaust clamp has the Ducati logo cut into the band:

Thanks for the info. What is the white balance set to in the Nikon? It turned the beautiful red orange.

🤷‍♂️ I'm more into motorcycles than cameras.

This is common complaint I've heard with the Ducati paint. The Desemosedicis are purposely painted an orange/red because the high-definition MotoGP cameras turn that orange into a darker shade of red:

If the factory were to paint the bikes true-to-color, the cameras would turn them pink on everyone's TV screens at home.

Most fun bike i owned was an 09 1100S Hyper.

The first gen Hypers really tweaked my interest, but I was into the SBKs back then.

When the second gen 939s came out, I was turned right off by the design. Low side-mounted exhaust instead of undertail (even a high-mount would have looked better), they got rid of the trellis sub-frame, wet clutch, weird inlets on the side-burns-like fairing behind the rad...

Just... no.

I think a lot of people thought the same thing because the 950 went back to the trellis sub-frame, undertail exhaust and the side-burns are less stylized.

I've always been a fan of the MotoGP "Corse" paint scheme. They came out with a Panigale V4 S with those colours back in 2019, but I wasn't in a position to pick one up:

Then when the 2022 Hyper SP was unveiled with the same Corse paint scheme, I was like:

Pure impulse purchase. I wasn't even looking at getting another bike, but because of the regret I had after not picking up that Panigale Corse, I knew I couldn't pass this one up.

Enjoy. And keep that front wheel down.
