Lifan Motorbike Resellers for Ontario

Does Lifan have resellers in Ontario? All I see are small engines.

If not is there any suggestions on best resellers in USA?
Thanks
Curious, why would you Want to buy a Chinese built motorcycle and pay for it in US$ when our money is only worth 71 cents on the US$ and the bike will likely fail our road vehicle import requirements to begin with.

I want a Chinese built motorcycle that costs less than a Japanese built motorcycle and I would rather pay a Canadian reseller than any other.

All (the vast majority of) motorcycles are imported ... so ... don't quite understand where you are going with that one; Lifan is a credible motor and bike builder (they simply cost a half of the big names).

And parts are cheap on AliExpress.

Become an importer, jump through the hoops to get them Transport Canada approved. That worked out great for Hyosung and Kymco.

Your only option is to buy it in the US, and then maybe if it is legal to register it there, then you can start the process of importing it to Canada. You cannot import them directly to Canada from China. Fees, shipping, duties. Not such a low price after all, huh?

Back when I was racing ATV’s my uncle who was racing with me became a Kymco dealer. We raced a Yamaha, a Suzuki, a Can-Am, An Arctic Cat, my Honda but not one Kymco on the team. Their Atv’s were junk. He brought in about 8 and sold them all for cost just to get rid of them. Went back to just repair and build race engines for the Japanese and Can-Am brands.
Kymco claimed they were responsible for building a lot of the big oe parts.
They could provide the same product with there name on it cheaper.
And we did find some Kymco branding on big oe quads but they still didn’t hold a candle. They were definitely cheating out on some aspects.
Their geometry on the frames sucked and they didn’t last for crap.

I don’t real know about Lifan but I hope it’s better than Kymco was.

Kymco builds the 300cc quads for Suzuki and Kawasaki BUT under strict quality control supervision.
Its just like the Chinese manufacturers - they'll build to whatever price point you like, but keep an eye on them.

Lifan got in trouble a few years ago with the US EPA for circumventing emissions regulations. Basically, they sold motorcycles that did not conform to emission standards, even though they claimed that they did. American Lifan Industry, Inc. Settlement | US EPA

They appear to have a distributor in the USA, and it has motorcycles listed in it, so one would assume that the violations were resolved. MOTOCYCLE Archives | American Lifan

And they appear to have a Canadian base, but why are the only vehicles offered for sale are model-year-2013 scooters being sold as new?? I'm thinking maybe these are the US-market models that they couldn't sell in the USA after the EPA got after them ... Lifan scooters in Vancouver, Canada.

In order to import a less-than-15-year-old US-market vehicle into Canada, it HAS to be on the Registrar of Imported Vehicles' vehicle admissibility list. And ... Nothing Lifan makes is on that list. And that means ... No can do. https://www.tc.gc.ca/motorvehiclesafety/safevehicles/importation/usa/vafus/list2/Section8_0.htm

If you really want to investigate getting one of their US-market bikes, your best bet is ... call Lifan. The phone number is on their website above.

There is a reason they cost half of the big names. Why not pick up a gently used Jap bike instead?

A few-years-old but decently-kept Ninja 250 will probably still have more life left in it than a brand new Lifan, and it will retain non-zero resale value, and it will be simply better for the duration of your ownership period, and you'll be able to get parts for it.

A good friend of mine is the NA importer for the Tenaci Wong trials bikes. They have proven to be bulletproof so far.

Importing off-road motorcycles, like quads and atvs, you don't have to jump through the same Transport Canada hoops as for a street legal machine.
As has been mentioned previously, the Chinese and Taiwanese will build to whatever price point you want but you get what you pay for.
