License plate light

Considering the number of people I see on our highways with zero tail lights or sometimes even headlights on in the middle of the night and non-functional brake lights, I doubt you'd get hassled much.

It's one of those 'do you want fries with that?' kind of ticketing offenses.

I would say that it's more one of those indicators, to someone who doesn't like motorcycles in the first place, that he can pull someone over and use half a ticket book in one stop.
 
To the comment about cagers. Taillights, as long as one light works, you are good. If both are off then it's no good at night.

Headlights, you can get a ticket if you have one lighted headlight. Some get away because of the front turn signals are also running lights.

As for license plate lights, $10 is all it takes to save you the hassle of getting pulled over.
I doubt the guys with plates flipped up would care. lol
