How about just being honest and paying the service you use? If 407 is too much, then don't take it. Why do people always have to find dishonest ways to go through their everyday lives?

Because they think crying about the price justifies being a scumbag....

Personally I don't want to pay for a motorcycle. Guys, what the best condo parking lot to steal one from? They cost more than what it costs in raw materials to build them so I'm justified in being a POS thief.

True, true.. Oh no, wait! That might be MY bike you're stealing..hmm..this theft business is tricky stuff!!

Lol the sarcasm is too much. You guys are saying just because I don't want to pay for the 407 means I want to go out and steal bikes? 407 is a rip off plain and simple. For the amount we are paying taxes that should be free. Like c'mon what if they start charging for the 401 or qew? Should we just bend over and take it? I'm not talking about stealing from the poor but taking the 407 on my daily commute saves me 1 hour both ways but I pay damn near $200 for it. And we all think insurance companies a thieves. This was paid by us and now the profit is going outside Canada. Shame.

Obviously I wouldn't run red lights on purpose but it happens sometimes. I was just more interested in not paying for the 407
If running a red light is something that "happens sometimes", perhaps you should stop driving and riding all together.

I don't ever use the 407, so maybe someone can explain this to me: How can covering your plate with your hand on the exit and entrance be a real solution? I'd imagine that the cameras are programmed to recognize license plates...so it's just too much work to try and figure out whether "this plate belongs to that guy", right?

So let me get this straight. If you feel something is a rip off, then it's alright to rip that person off? Ok, gotcha.

Simple solution: don't use the 407.

If you're going to hide your plate, these guys do it right:

http://www.tricplate.com/

Only problem with these are that they are illegal even when you can see the plate as you arent allowed any cover no matter coloured or clear over top of your plate. Yes you probably won't get pulled over for it but you never know how bad a cop wants to pull you over and they can use it as an excuse.

On the on and off ramps they have cameras that take a pic of your plate and send the bill to the registered address of that plate.
The computer does all the hard work for them.
So if you block them on and off then they can't find out who to send the bill too.

But do it all the time at the same time and I'm sure they will have a cop with a pic of your vehicle waiting for you.

You might want to have another look at the 407 camera gantries. In addition to the cameras aimed at the rear licenses plates, you will also find another camera facing towards the fronts of vehicles approaching the gantry.

407 does not take a picture of the front, due to the privacy act. They legally can NOT take a picture of the driver/passenger.

Everyone has run a red light one time or another. Sometimes bad weather conditions other times bad judgement or for the fact our bikes aren't heavy enough to trip off the underground sensor. But besides that my main concern for this is to use a paid service(407) for free. Now I know a lot of your frown on this but it's what I feel so it is what it is. I appreciated your comments but just say it as it is don't bother being sarcastic.

Ok, you're a thief.

So your comparing accidentally running a red, to purposely trying to block your license plate so you can ride on a toll road for free? I don't really see how they are similar.

It does not matter what your view on the selling of the 407 is. It was done, its sold, someone owns it now. Its a toll road, you pay for it or don't use it. Pretty simple concept.

One product solves both problems if it worked. I'm still paying for my 407 but if someone has a solution for blocking my plate I'm all ears

Get a plate kit that moves the plate to a spot it can't be photographed ie the competition werkes fender eliminator.

Another option is to stretch you leg back and cover the plate with your foot.....

Check the gantries. You will see that camera looking right at the front of your car.

Nothing in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act prohibits video surveillance of vehicles in a public place even if cameras are aimed towards the windshield and the faces of the occupants inside. If such was the case, just about every exterior surveillance camera with aview of passing traffic would be illegal

Problem? Exactly how many times are you running a red light at intersections where there are red light cameras where it has become a problem? If red light cameras are a problem, you really should stop driving all together before the "red light camera" problem becomes a "tractor trailer in the intersection" problem.

And how is paying for a service like the 407 a "problem". Perhaps this is the (one-time) case for someone from out of town that doesn't notice they are getting on the 407, but this isn't an issue for those of us around here. If the costs don't justify the time and fuel saved, don't use it!
