License Expiry Date?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone knew if the ministry will send you a letter or a notice of any kind letting you know that your M2 is expiring and to get your full M or if itt would just expire.

Is there a way of knowing exactly when it expires other than seeing when you got your m1 and adding 5 years to that?

Don't believe they send you anything. They leave it up to you... More money for them that way lol

It's all on you to keep it valid. Should their be an error and your M2 appears on your new card, even though it is expired, it's on you to correct it. It happens...
 
I got a letter but it was about 4 months before expiring so beware. It's better to check the dates yourself.

I think the process includes a reminder letter, but I wouldn't count on receiving with a reasonable amount of time to plan for it, if you receive it at all. BTW, it's 5 years from when you got the M2, it doesn't include the M1 period.
 
Thanks for all the responses. I didnt know it was from the day I got my m2 so that helps a bit. I was worried because Got my license in May and if it was to expire, I would have to do my M2X exam in April with weather that would be unpredictable.
 
Depends on Two factors:
18 Months if you took a course. 22 months if you did not.
These are the minimum months you must stay in M2.
But Yes, 5 years from either date is when your M2 expires.
 
they do send you notice. approximately 4 months prior to expirary as i just recieved mine. plenty of time to prepare

nope. they will send you one once i is expired.
my G license expired and was renewed as a GM2. a couple months later i got a new card in the mail that said G class with a explanation that my M2 expired...so i had to start all over.

My 18 months winds up November 1st... Surprisingly Learning Curves still does M2 Exits that month so I might actually go for it. But yeah like emefef said you have 5 years before it expires, 18 and 22 months are just the minimum time before you are allowed to do the test.
 
I got a letter a couple weeks ago, to remind me my M2 expires in August. So plenty of advanced notice for me.

I lingered on my G2 like that, got my G 4 months before it expired. I'll be getting my M as soon as 18 months is up (taking the course before the time's even up)

Thats good news. I was worrying I would have to risk doing the test in the rain. This will give me some time to hop back on 2 wheels and get the rust off before the m2x. Thanks for all the replies!
