What a ****ing surprise, eh?

What a ****ing surprise, eh?
They were asked by the aforementioned business conglomerates, NOT the government.
The only government participation in the matter to date is the CRTC giving the proposal the fuzzy eyeball.
The guy's got some weird issues...
Did I say the government asked? Did you just say that the government was involved, however little it was? Just admit you're wrong.
Because he wants to talk about issues, rather than gossip about other people?
Did I say the government asked?
My comments are to the original post, and my response is factually based around such - Neither Trudeau nor the Liberal party had anything to do with it. The end. The rest is splitting hairs

So rather than bringing up facts we're attacking the person now?
You just finished quoting me.
Well, it does take a big man to admit that he's wrong. Sorry.
I'm with you on this one. Gov't is the mailbox for an industry complaint - nothing more.Nothing personal, perhaps we are looking at this from different perspectives, but there's one thing in politics that really burns my ***, and just blindly blaming everything on the government if there's even a razor thin attachment...without bothering to actually fact check and see if the claim even remotely holds true.
This is a great example of such. Just blindly blame the government (even narrowing it down to the PM and his party specifically) even though the government's only involvement is either deciding to consider the proposal by a bunch of businesses, or tell them to get lost. And it'll likely end up being the latter decision as the CRTC is thankfully very strong on net neutrality here, which these proposals would severely undermine.
This was so common in the Obama government era that it actually spawned a "Thanks, Obama!" meme that became everyone's comedy gold...because it got to the point where everything was his fault to some people.
Car won't start? Thanks, Obama!
The server at the restaurant was rude? Thanks, Obama!
It's raining outside? Thanks, Obama!
Don't let any of this be mistaken for any level of support for the Federal Liberals or Trudeau (I voted for neither), but regardless, I will not blame people for things they didn't actually do.
The biggest donations to the Liberal Party came from corporate Canada, including companies that depend on federal regulations or subsidies. Major contributors were law firms, energy producers, banks, telecommunications firms, ad agencies and lobbyists.

Here's another good example of Bell and the Liberal Party.

Not saying there's anything corrupt going on. We'll see.

Bell, Telus, Shaw and Rogers are in cahoots with the CRTC and the ruling party - always and since the beginning of time. You don’t think Bell lobbied the cons just as much? This is more about ensuring the CRTC work for the people's interests instead of working for the media companies. My feeling is they have been playing both sides, looking the other way in recent years with the copywrite issue while the big telecoms companies ensured true competition never really entered into the wireless market ensuring that you and I pay some of the highest rates in the world for mobile telecoms. Now that telecoms are losing market share on the cable/satellite TV front they are whining harder about the copywrite issue while simultaneously raising prices across the board for Home internet. These guys don’t just want their cake and to eat it, they want to own the ****ing bakeries and the flour mills and sell ovens.

I didn't say the CRTC is all bad. These are known in telecom and media as 'small potato issues', ones that keep suppliers in line with Canadian competition and anti trust laws. The big ones are related to new entrants that could challenge the existing triopoly.Exactly. And the cons at the time were not afraid to occasionally tell them to get stuffed then, as well.
I can post plenty more examples for those who want to forget history.
That tells me that you are either disinterested in facts on that topic, or are blindly ignoring them.
The CRTC has done a LOT of things in the last 2-3 years that have royally ****** off the likes of many companies that operate under them.
