Lets talk Rear Sets

I had Lightech rearsets on my race bike but they were so high even in the lowest possible mounting position that I couldn't lift my leg enough to move my feet around on the pegs, very good quality but wouldn't work for me. I have vortex on my race bikes and had Harris on my street zx10, the Harris set was as good if not better than the lightech. If your racing or tracking your bike get something common so that if you go down spares are easy to come by.

how tall are you?

In that case, I think the Lightechs might just be perfect for me lol. I'm 5'7 with a short inseam!

Thanks guys. This is what I was looking for. I guess now I need to start looking at what the change in posistion is on the web to see what works for me. Don't want to invest in something that is not going to work for me on the street where I spend 90% of my riding time.

I don't think you'll find anything on the web that will give you a solid answer.
It's all preference and it varies from rider to rider.
If you invest in adjustable rearsets, there is no magical position that works for everyone.
You will have to mess around with them for a bit until you find the sweet spot.
They will work 100%, what position, how high or how far back is entirely up to your preference.

If it's just a cjange in position you are after look into getting some riser plates made. Cheeeeeap. That's all I have on my race bike

Besides adjustability and bling, other reasons for aftermarket rearsets:

- depending on the mount design, a fixed peg might prevent frame damage compared to the stock folding peg. However I've seen fixed pegs bend mounting tabs or mounts ripping from the frame, so YMMV.

I tried solid footpegs on my race bike. First crash started showing signs of elongating the threaded holes in the frame. No thanks! Back to stock folding footpegs.

On my bike, the footpeg bracket is a simple triangular plate. (stock one is a fancy casting, but functionally, it's a plate with three holes in it). I just had new ones made with the hole for the (stock) peg up and back a smidge.

Nice. Here's mine

I actually need to get new ones made. I need them up higher maybe a half inch. Vortex no longer makes the adjustables for my bike, lol. Plus, I can get a complete spare stock rearset for cheaper than a replacement vortex peg.

Just me or is the shift rod rubbing the frame? Doubt you could lift another 1/2"......looks too close as it is. +2 for the riser plates, used a set that backed 1" and raised 1".......for less than 50 bucks it was a good investment. Have a set of Harris now.......real nice and highly recommend!!!
