The degree of complicity in instigating an act of war varies depending on which war and who you ask. There is probably no end to the bickering that can ensue but it's all beside the point anyways. The one thing that can reliably be said, I think, is that no nation has ever been blind sided into going to war against it's will.

On the other hand, I believe the US avoided war by lying about the manner of JFK's assasination. I believe it was a successful Cuban plot and if the public had learned the truth, they would have demanded a war against Cuba which would have meant war with USSR which would have meant nuclear war. That explains the extreme and lasting embargo the US has had with Cuba. If I'm right, watch what happens as soon as Castro dies.

Anyways, in this case the US was blind sided. They didn't fall for the bait however because they weren't prepared to engage in nuclear war.

The OP is right though, the US and Israel are just bruising for a fight with Iran and they will find or create any excuse to get public support for it.

Welcome to Walmarts newest location formerly known as Iran.pave it over make a parking lot as its not like the song

I doubt the USA has the Stomach or money for another (bigger) war.......not to mention the rise in oil prices that would follow.
Just like they haven't done anything against north Korea........North Korea and Iran have much bigger militaries than Iraq.

The States tend not to like it when you threaten one of their aircraft carriers.

Yeah, but read the article..even the US commander says everyone wants the lower the temperature there. There's a power struggle going on in Iran..and I suspect the US wants to covertly encourage that struggle to effect change. A war would only reinforce the strength of the side the US doesn't want in power. I really don't think there'll be an all-out war there. Unless Saudi or Israel are directly attacked..

It may not be a war directly. If some other country invades, then the states will come in to assist. They'll find a way to repay the favor. The States usually doesn't take too kindly to being threatened. They also can't be seen as being weak. It may not be stragically smart to go to war right now, but I am confident something will come of it.

The war will come as no surprise to anyone who's been staying on top of the news in the last decade or so. All a part of the Oil Crusade. I'm more curious as to which country will be their next target after they "pacify" the Middle East. My money's on Venezuela. Chavez had the audacity to offer heating oil at subsidized rates to the American poor

canada better not turn off the oil to the usa, we could be next!!! i would like to see a carrier in the great lakes.

I really don't think so. Yes they want the oil to continue..but they're quite willing to pay for it as long as normalcy continues. If they do actually try to block the oil from Saudi or UAE, I suspect they'll eliminate that problem if need be. I think it's just a bunch of big talk and they'll get past it. As long as they play ball and let the oil trade continue, the US doesn't really have anything to gain by fighting there. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard controls a lot of the money in that country and they're fighting with the government for control. Their money is being cut-off by the US and they're doing all they can..talking loud..makes oil prices go up which is good for Iran and hopefully make the US back down.

If Saudi or Israel are attacked though, all bets are off.

You bet. Don't think it couldn't happen.. At what point do you stop if something is vital to your country's survival?

I'm not so sure.. They've been clamoring for a war against Iran for ages now.. They were temporarily being held back by their engagement in Afghanistan and the fact that Saddam would have helped Iran had NATO attacked. Now that he's out of the picture, there's nothing holding them back.

If Saudi or Israel are attacked though, all bets are off.

That means that there'll either be a provocation by the Saudis or Israelis or some more "intel" stating that in addition to a nuclear program, Iran also has CBW's. Afterwards, they'll just say that they're bringing democracy to that poor nation. That one never gets old

The problem with the Arabs is they have no team effort. If they played as a team and as allies to each other, there would be more strength to them. Just like when the Isrealis were fighting the Palestinians in the 80's. The Palestinians and Egyptians were allies fighting for their soil, but once Egypt got what they wanted they just ditched the Palestinians.

I am surprised countries like Syria and Lebanon has not jump on the boat with Iran

Arab isn't a monolithic group.
And Iranians aren't Arab.
