LED CREE headlights , better than halogen/hid

The problem with aftermarket stuff is that you never know what is going to be good and what isn't. But ... "Too cheap to be good" is a close relative of "too good to be true".

The LED light source is visible in that photo. It's much smaller than any of the others. Every "decent" LED headlamp replacement has some means of rejecting heat (fins, etc). Must be a reason why. This one doesn't have it.

I have the older ADVmonster bulbs with the fixed fins.

I got these for my Daytona

Let's just say I had to get VERY creative with the installation. It's not plug and play. I was not able to mount back the headlight housing since the heatsink/fan is too large, so this is where I had to be "creative/MacGyver". I had to push the bulbs more in the projector, and that of course resulted in the beam pattern being totally off, so I can't say that my headlights illuminate better now (it's worse than halogen actually), but it's good enough and they do look cool.

EDIT
For my low beam I got the version without the fan, they stick out less, but still no plug and play. For the high beam, fan/heatskink was the only option (low beam H7, high H9).

I bought a set of H4 LED (USA CREE) bulbs for my gixxer from the show last year from a local supplier, he compared them side by side with HID and I was very impressed how bright they were.....big waste of 190 bucks!!! I went for a night ride and they were horrible, I tried make them work better by adjusting the beam on the headlight with little improvement.....been through a bunch of different bulbs and the HID 55W 6000K worked best for me. In my opinion the reflectors designed for halogen bulbs don't work well the LED's beam pattern

Some bikes the reflector works fine, loads of people on the VFR forum have used LED kits and get amazing output.

I recently added a set of Opt7 LED hi and low beams.. very impressed with the setup so far. There are a lot of very crappy options out there right now, spend a little more and get the good ones
