LCBO - another reason i hate this city

LCBO is another reason I hate this province.

- yeah yeah, you guys will say" well, if you dont like it, then leave".

- Trust me, I plan to!, I have better options in Australia and NZ :)

A NZer swimming up stream? Auzzies and Kiwis who come to Canada are supposed to be on their way to England, just like Brits are supposed to be on their way to Auz or NZ.

It is simply for tax reasons, nothing new.

There are provincial taxes on not just alcohol but also tobacco, due to this they are not supposed to be shipped across provincial boundaries, all because the receiving jurisdiction is not getting their cut. It is technically the same in all directions... Does not mean some companies bend the rules but they are not supposed to by law.

This is what happens when you have country the is run by the criminal élite.

It was only a matter of time before the thread went FT.

the people who Run LCBO are complete morons.they revamped all their stores, prettied them up and probably spent a ******** of taxpayers money to do itWHY ? to get more customers ? There is NO compitition !!!!!!they could have 4 blank walls, and a concrete floor, and they's still do the same business.
Let's not forget how against drinking the government is. All the anti drinking and smoking campaigns, yet they love the profits...

They spent taxpayer money in the sense that almost all their customers are taxpayers.... but they sure as hell aren't spending 'tax money'. The LCBO makes $1.5B net income per year. Almost all of that is transferred directly to the province; or back to the taxpayer, if you will.Sure the booze is more expensive than other regions, but the profits all come right back into provincial coffers for use on health, education, and other services which run Ontario. What would be a travesty is if the LCBO was sold, like governments tend to toss around once in a while.
They could achieve the same result but give us a break on price if they actually took heed to the Drummond report and the blatantly high prices they are paying without exercising their purchasing power.Or hell even make more profit at least...ArggggI'm going back to my Barbie thread. This **** angers me

when I drive to Toronto in September from Calgary I'm going to load up the car with plenty of booze. Any booze that Calgary has that Toronto doesn't?

Everything in Calgary seems to be more expensive except booze and insurance lol

The thing that bugs me as an Aussie here... The LCBO isnt open 24hrs and to buy a parties worth of booze you have to get a permit.... WTF.

you can buy as much booze as you want without a permit.

the permit is used for a few reasons, one being if you're selling/serving alcohol at a secondary location. ie:wedding hall, legion, banquet hall...etc

You pay $60 for Heineken? Jebus.

The LCBO is like some Stalinesque communist booze outlet. I hate that I can't have any choice as to where I buy my booze from, I hate that I can't get anything after 6pm on some days or on holidays...it's a holiday I WANT TO HAVE A DRINK.

Damn scottish protestants. It's all their fault.

Love eastern provinces.

Had my booze in the convenience store, grocery store, and liquor store in quebec annnnnd they had the right to sell you booze until 11 pm. Anywhere. Any open store.

I was mad at them, but they started stocking Blanton's again (and Blanton's Single Barrel), so I'm not so mad at them any more.
