Forcillo's in the clink.

Now that he's had a custodial sentence, does that mean he can finally be terminated?

Const. James Forcillo, the Toronto police officer convicted of attempted murder in the fatal shooting of Sammy Yatim, has consented to his detention and has started to serve his six-year sentence.

The attorney general was granted a request to revoke his bail on Monday.

Update: All Forcillo's sureties have pulled bail according to his lawyers. He will return to provincial court Dec 15 to ***** if there is any reason for a bail hearing for breaching conditions, Forcillo is serving his 6-yr sentence.

He could have been fired the moment that he was convicted, but it would likely take a police hearing.

Oh, yeah hearing, sounds like really a difficult thing to do. Why would they call a hearing regarding this guy's actions, right? ... LOL

If it's an actual hearing, he might have a right to attend.
If he's in jail, he cannot attend. Therefore, a hearing might have to wait until he gets out.
There should be a way to fire him with cause.

We had some people that were upset that a Minister wasn't defrocked, after doing stuff that put him in prison.
They had to wait until he was released, before they could have the meeting. Once he was out, it was a very short meeting to which he didn't attend.

The Florida cop being terminated because of PTSD sucks but many states have a similar lack of job protection.

A US rider on another forum was hit by a minimally or uninsured driver and seriously hurt. If he wasn't back to work in six month his job was gone. No excuses.

"Right to Work" States. Gotta love 'em. The Federal Conservatives and Ontario PC Party have both considered this sort of thing, in recent years.

The father of the two cops who beat the black guy within an inch of his life in Whitby who used his position in the professional standards branch to try to make the whole thing disappear is no longer in the professional standards branch. I haven't seen where he went or whether this was a formal reprimand or just another level of pushing it under the rug.

I believe he's under investigation for interference or something. This could blow back into the face of Toronto's chief of police who at one time said there was never any attempt to prevent an investigation into the victim's allegations against the two brother, but it looks very likely that there was and his defense of the department's (in)action was without any basis in fact.

Just for chuckles:

In Canada your kid can take a ceremonial dagger to school but not a home made cookie.

In the USA it's illegal to possess a Kinder Egg because they are dangerous but hand guns are OK.
