KTM RC 390...experiences or input?

Fun and capable, gen 1s weren’t reliable but newer ones are solid

I test-rode one a couple years older than that. My race bike is a Yamaha R3 with a lot of aftermarket stuff, so that's my point of reference. Compared to that, the KTM is a little rough, lacks refinement, but the fun factor is certainly there. Owner of that bike hasn't had any issues with it.

Love mine and definitely spent too cash on it. Had it new since 2020 and far from stock now. It's almost track ready with suspension all done up, Tyga clip ons, Pirellis, full intake and exhaust done and well as a PCV with quickshifter. No hiccups yet but I got a wad of cash ready for when it pops. Its fun and easy to ride, quick to 100, leans like nobody's business and it looks hella cool.

To add to Bigpoppa, the originals had issues with head gaskets and busted fans. 2017 models apparently fixed that. I have seen some posts on the KTM forums of issues with the new bikes. According to those posts seems like Bajaj has gotten even more lax with QC. That could just be the loud voices of the few with issues talking. Thats what warranty is for

I had one when I first started out but sold it after 1-year. Absolutely love it.

it’s a great little starter bike, very light and has more electronics and features compared to the same class of bikes. At least back for year 2022, the RC390 has ABS, LCD display, adjustable front and rear shocks where R3, ninja 400 or CBR500 doesn’t.

Some of the issues I ran into is looking for parts, definitely not as many as it’s Japanese peers (that may have changed now as the body style I had is 2 years old now). I remember looking for aftermarket exhaust was not existent as no one had the bike to test it on. Highway speed is good but…. U will find the bike a bit unstable — may be it’s too light or back that I was not good at controlling the bike.

Outside of that loved this little thing. And I wished I had kept it. So I can actually turn it into a track bike.
