Once KTM has put in the effort to develop a 200 for all those countries and Islands where a 250 is as big a bike as you can register (south asia) , and its an enormous market, why not spread it around the rest of the planet? Fills a niche, maybe gets somebody into the brand, easy business for KTM

Very true. What have they got to lose?

A small displacement, unintimidating, thoroughly modern motorcycle where the insurance cost won't kill the buzz. It's certainly worth a shot.

As an owner of an RC390, I wouldn't go lower. The 390 is a nice sweet spot for agility and quickness. At 120kph though, I'm at like 6.5k rpm I think. Redline 10.2k. I feel like the 200 would NOT enjoy the highway at all if you gotta wring it out more. However a young rider might be looking for something new and cheap to start riding around town. I can see it making some sense in that regard

It would be better if the price was the same as in India for the Bajaj RS200/NS - about $2300 CAD.



I wish they brought over some of those entry level bikes - like the CT110 at $950. Sell them at Walmart and Canadian Tire.

I have ridden a Duke 200 way back in 2017-18. Actually had it with me for a while. It was my colleague's motorcycle.
It makes perfect sense for the South Asian countries (I'm from India) but here, not so much. It can easily do anything till 80-100 kmph but above that, it'll struggle. It'll be a great bike for city riding though. It's got mad acceleration which would put an ear to ear grin every time you wack open the throttle.

Also have ridden the Duke 250, Duke and RC 390 in India

Has bajaj managed to fix their reliability issues yet? If the newer gens are better I would buy a track bike in a heart beat

Nope... I'd stay away. Their engines are mostly tuned for fuel economy and they cater to the commuter market.

Its not meant for highway use - urban assault like a Grom.

Also forgot to mention, they have bikes like NS/RS/AS200 and Dominar 400, the engines of which are direct derivatives of KTM 200/390 engines...I know that NS200 is used for stunting quite a bit. If it were originally made by Bajaj, the engines would have torn apart in no time lol

Until it breaks and there aren't any parts. Once upon a time Canadian Tire sold 50 and 90cc Kawasakis - it didn't work out.
