Kriega tail bags: Anyway of locking them down?

yum yum

Banned
I'm considering getting a Kriega tail bag, and was wondering if there's any way of locking them down to the bike.

I don't want to have to lug the bags each time I'm off the bike. I'm assuming that there's a way of locking them securely, so passer's by don't either steal the bags themselves or its contents.

Also, for anyone with the ALP quick-release system with the 6061-T6 alloy hardware, does it fit on any bike (no info on their website)? I ride a Ducati Monster 696 (I know, not exactly a touring bike :) ).

Thanks for any info!

There's no way to lock them down. Even if you ran a cable through some of the webbing, it could easily be cut.

If your stuff is at risk of being stolen then you gotta take it with you.

spawnx66, you're a genius! :) Great find, and I think it just might work (and available at mec). Phew, so now I think I've finally found the perfect tail bag for my ride--and one that's relatively secure! Thanks!

Hopefully the cables are rubber coated so it wont scratch your fairings.

If you can get one for your bike, do it, don't hesitate. For years I tried to get by without one, before finally giving in, should have done it a looooong time ago. So convenient it's unbelievable. Can leave your stuff in there without fear of it getting wet or stolen. Can go shopping and toss your purchases in there. Doesn't get in the way of anything except looks, but the tradeoff is worth it. There's a reason why almost every bike in Europe has one. If you do decide on one, bigger is better. Mine is 52L and there are many times I wouldn't mind more space.

The top cases come up somewhat regularly on craigslist/kijiji for around 50% off retail if you keep an eye out

Edit: Missed the part about you having a 696, doesn't look too bad

Thanks guys for the Givi suggestion! I actually had a Givi topcase for my other bike. Very convenient, but I had a bad experience with the plastic plates. The plastic around the bolt was cracked (was like that when I got the bike), and the topcase and plate would often hang vertically. After that experience, I'm a bit hesitant with Givi products. It could have been a fluke, but I don't know...

I might reconsider, though. Any place in the GTA that carries a good selection that are in stock?

GP Bikes I know carried them.

When I was buying mine, Royal Distributing had the cheapest price, but Snow City matched them.
