Kijiji Seller in Ottawa Won't Ship So ...

Courier companies do pickups. Check with them if they willing to come to the guy with an empty box and shipping label printed.
Is that an option? I'm getting the impression this guy wants to do nothing to inconvenience himself so if he could just hand the package unwrapped to a delivery guy and the latter seals the package and drops it in the mail, I'd be okay with that.

Will pursue further if I need to thanks.

I don't know, that's why you have to call them :) It's not what they usually do (box+label), but they do pickups 100%.

I'm going to guess they'll say no. Too much liability for the courier in having them handle an unboxed item.

Shipper or receiver can claim theft/damages and absolve themselves of responsibility if they do not do the packaging themselves. If the package is sealed from pickup to delivery, the courier is off the hook.

If you don't trust the guys on here, just download the USHIP app. Upload a picture of what you want moved. To and from addresses. Sit back and watch the bids come in. They get substantially cheaper as your auction runs down. From Ottawa you'll be looking at ~ $500 enclosed transport.

The guy formerly known as Mladin.

best idea ever....just ask one of gtam memebers who wants to go on a day trip to ottawa to pick it up for you. pay for his/her gas. win win situation

I think that might've been his goal with this thread, or hoping someone was heading back from there.
Surprised no one on here has volunteered but the weather this weekend looks crap for riding anyways

My goal was literally to see if someone knew of a service that did that and nothing more. I've seen services on Kijiji where people driving from 1 place to another will ask for passengers going the same way to help offset the gas ... hey that's an idea! I may contact 1 of those people.

I honestly didn't think anyone would ride that far but many of you are obviously more iron-butted than I am. :)

It is doable in 1 day.
Leave home at 5am and you you can be back home by 7 or 8pm that evening.
This includes time for petrol, coffee, washroom and a heavy lunch...granted I was pretty beat up after and it took 3 days of soreness to recover after lol.

I did three trips to Ottawa twice last summer...once to pickup a used Ultimate Seat for my Vulcan, and a second time (only a few weeks later IIRC) to pickup a automated cat litter box thing which has since been coined the "CatPoo 9000", and a third literally to have a hotdog in Hull at Costco.

I think I'm probably the only person on the face of the planet who's ever had a CatGenie (the actual name of the thing) on the back of a motorcycle, but the deal was totally worth it....and I'm always looking for a reason for a good long ride somewhere.

Anyhow, what is it you're looking to get? If it'll fit in my beer box or strap onto the cargo rack, I'm totally game to go back out there again. It's an easy day trip and honestly, I'm looking for an excuse to go anywhere right about now.

PM me.

This Sunday is actually looking doable. It's literally the only day in the next week that it's forecasted to rain - chance of showers up in Ottawa itself, but whatever.

Was that when the service centres were closed and there were no washrooms?

I don't think we will ever see any more dedication to a cat's digestive system ever again. I am totally ok with that too.

I only remember having 1 bathroom issue on any of those 3 trips, having to take a leak behind the dumpster corral at a McDonalds I had lunch at west of Ottawa. Won't let me use the bathrooms? Fine, I'll have to find another option when my teeth are floating.

The rest of the trips, found bathrooms with some creativity.
