Kawasaki has lost the plot... ABM2Z not enough for the demo ride...

I booked weeks ago then got an e-mail last night to reserve the ride! WTF? So, I call first thing this morning and book an er6-N for 11 A.M. and a 900 Vulcan for noon.. Get there nice and early and go into the trailer and... Nope... No go... I explain that I am 43, drive truck and bus and the only reason I do not have my full M is that I cannot get any weekends off this year (or any vacation for that matter) so I have been unable to do my M2 exit course at Conestoga college. I could do the M test on a Tuesday or Wednesday but I would rather do the course so that the instructors can help find whatever "bugs" I have in my riding so that I will improve and be safer. In the years ahead I plan to do advanced riding courses as well.

At any rate the folks at Two Wheel were sympathetic and did their best to help me get on a bike; but to no avail. I was in full gear with my Olympia Airglide jackets and pants, A* SMX-5 boots etc. The only other people getting turned away that I could see were squids.

At any rate Two Wheel managed to prep a demo Kawasaki Verses 650 for me to ride which I really appreciated.

I found the power very similar to my CB 750. The sixth gear was nice and would make commuting more pleasant and more fuel efficient. The handling and braking were obviously much better than my old bike.

If Kawasaki put this engine into a retro styled bike and called it a KZ 650 I would be very tempted.

As it is I think I am more inclined to stay away from cruisers and look at Yamaha FZ-07, FZ-09, Suzuki 650 Gladius, and the new Monster 821.

There was a guy there on his third year who moved up from a CBR 250 to his current Triumph 675 Speed Triple and was test riding a ZX14. I think I am a safer bet on a Ninja 650 but Kawasaki didn't think so. Are the other manufacturers this brain dead in their criteria as well?

I hate to say it but the first rule on the demo ride sign up is a FULL motorcycle licence in good standing. It's prob to keep insurance cost for them down.
A rider must be 21 years of age or older as of the date of the chosen demo ride and hold a current full motorcycle license in good standing.

Good on Two Wheel getting you out on a ride though

IMO. Just do your test at the ministry. If you've been riding this long your sure to pass, you sound a reasonable and good driver. Put the money towards a different course or just take it later.

Being older doesn't mean you can ride. I see plenty of 40+ riders that should be on a bicycle.

Full M for demo days is the norm.

I've only had trouble with the KTM demo ride, where there wasn't any consistency in what gear was allowed..... Some instances riders were allowed with sneakers and normal rain jackets... Next moment you needed full leather with armor

As for Kawasaki.... The M license is stated on their website and it's because of insurance purposes .... I've talked to Kawasaki and they told me to go to the website and you can schedule a one on one test ride with your closest dealer.... Kawasaki pays the dealer for these test rides and you don't need a full M

I actually really enjoyed the track days (also m2) but sadly they are over for Ontario

Full M most most/all demo rides. You should have checked with them first and asked. Not their fault.

I showed up to a Peterbilt demo day and they wouldn't let me drive a truck even though I have my motorcycle and pilot's license. Wtf

Ah man, same thing with me at Lear Jet demo days, I even bought the sunglasses, and, and, I have a full M. True story.

Just tell the guy you've flown them in grand theft auto and that it's a stupid policy

I went to a horse beating demo but it was already dead.

That should be intuitive.

Did you tell them you had your firearm license, bro?

Me too... I had to go get one to drive instead...

Just the same I obviously am the one who lost the plot! I did call to check into this though and was given some erroneous info. At any rate full kudos to the team at Two Wheel who managed to get me on a similar bike to what I wanted to ride anyways.

In other news I finally was able to replace my missing left side cover. A guy was parting out a 1982 CB 750 Custom in Ottawa that he is doing a project on. Was nice to commute with the bike "complete" again...

The best part of buying a lot of parts is getting a ton of crap you don't need!

The 1980s called... They want their Vetter fairing back!

Anyone need a full set of panniers for a CB 750 Custom? Wowsa...

Can I change the title of the thread? Maybe change it to: "Zoodles has lost the plot! Does not clue in that he needs a full M for a demo ride"...
