You're doing that thing again where you ask someone to prove a point, they do so, and then you suggest they whiffed on it because you were referring to some other point but refuse to share what it is.

So enlighten us all, Kthanks.
i refused? do tell.

my point again was you`re being somewhat simple in your statements.

You say 'seconds' what did that mean to you? 1-2, 10 maybe 60? none of the above?

It seems like you left it hanging, so it's open to interpretation but it shouldn't be, because based on what someone infers you are in fact incorrect (semi automatic rifles do not empty standard mags in 1-2 seconds).

Geesh...really?

That's kinda gasping there. I think most people that hear the term "seconds" as part of a conversation (IE, the Keurig will be finished in a few seconds" or "Give me a few seconds to put my hat on before we leave" would get the inferred time as being short, and most would construe it to be something under 10.

Or should we debate the term "few seconds" now as well to further clarify the definition of "few"?

So, assuming your 100 round magazine reference, given the video I posted showing an average guy unloading 30 rounds in about 4 seconds (a pro can do it in less), the simple math dictates that the same "joe citizen" could unload that 100 round drum in about 12 to 15 seconds.

Shall we continue splitting hairs?

again you generalize when you believe it supports your statement but in reality it's putting holes in it.

that's all man.

Okey dokey. Lets go with that then.

Can we trade him for anything...? At this time we'll take bieber back if it means to get rid of this useless turd.
We have beiber back he lives across the road from me and has been here for a while.

80% of those surveyed, with a margin of error of 2.5%, support an assault weapon ban.

Heck, 50% of Canadians support a full ban on all weapons in Canada!
"Of those surveyed" Good to know. Did anyone contact you? I didn't hear from anyone. I don't know anybody that was part of this survey, do you?. There is one tell-tale about who they called though. 73% of their respondents claim to currently own guns. But gun owners know that 1. there's no such thing as an "assault weapon"(all weapons are used for assault btw). 2. There are no automatic military weapons that are not already extremely prohibited. 3. Modifications to any firearm to make them automatic, are extremely prohibited. There's a very long list of things that gun owners know. How do I know that? Because they had to attend a course, and pass a test. And if they have a license for restricted firearms, then I believe it's a longer course and bigger test. I can also tell that you indeed, do not know what laws are in place, you don't understand what regulations were already in effect, nor which weapons are prohibited, restricted, and non-restricted. You don't understand important things like aim, caliber or other factors. You only know scary gun = bad

One parting jab, magazine(not clip) capacity. All (center-fire)handgun magazines in Canada are restricted to a maximum of ten rounds, some will be less depending on the size of the weapon and cartridge, but none are allowed to be more. All rifles(including the big scary AR-15) are restricted to a maximum of 5 rounds. This restriction comes by way of a permanent modification to the magazine.

Every semi-automatic weapon, from hand gun to hunting rifle, will all fire at the same speed. However fast you can reset your finger and pull again. And I assure you, more targets can be dropped with five rounds through a single shot bolt-action rifle, than 5 rounds through any (already illegal)automatic weapon.

PP, I replied to your earlier post before seeing that you are a gun owner, jumped the gun and I'll apologize for that. However, I'm going to leave that there anyway, to remind you of the things you forgot.

I hope all the liberal SJW's are okay with it when someday a govt uses OIC to ban abortion or gay marriage...
No debate.
No vote.
No problem...

I think a lot of people are missing the point on what actually happened here.
A MINORITY gov't circumvented parliament to advance THEIR agenda...
An agenda that had little chance of passing if put to a vote in parlimant

We've basically been reduced to living in a dictatorship. Sure, if if doesnt seemingly affect you.. Who cares?
Just wait until it does...

I didn't miss it at all, that was the part that actually burned me the most. I actually don't care about tactical rifles. I care more about democracy and rights. I'm not currently a gun owner yet, due to an unfortunate incident(idiot relentlessly goaded me into "fighting" him, one swing and he went down, I'm discharged now but still have 2 years left on my prohibition). The only "military style" rifle I actually want to own is still on the rack at Bass Pro and will remain there, unharmed by this bill. It's one of the most effective tools a rifleman or hunter can ask for. The U.S. army calls it the M24.

Someone eluded here, that I'd be more comfortable in the U.S. I couldn't agree more,, I have been exploring options and making plans. I've chosen my future home state, I know a few employment possibilities, etc. Unfortunately a few more barriers exist, even after the `rona is over. Roxham road only works one way, for starters. There's also the little detail that I absolutely refuse to make my first act as an aspiring American, a crime. When I finally make my way to the lonestar state, it will be 100% legal. While I am a skilled tradesman, I'm not considered a top-tier professional in terms of immigration, anybody that actually gets dirt on them is "third preference". I also still have some obligations here.

Question for the pro gun folks. Do you want a USA type gun culture in Canada. NRA?
No, guns are a stupid thing to obsess over unless you are military and killing things is just a sick thing to do. I'm a little different then most, I like guns but do not like shooting them, I appreciate them for their design and construction, same as I appreciate a Ferrari or an Army Tank, all very fascinating stuff. ... and no it's not because I am a bad shot or don't know how to handle a weapon, it just does not appeal to me to kill things or poke small holes through paper targets and clay pigeons.

If you have a machine gun and no bullets for it I would feel relatively safe with somebody owning that, the people who concern me the most are the ones that seem to undergo a personality change once they have a gun in hand.

One more thing, don't ever point a gun at me :cautious: don't even point an Empty gun at me unless you want to see somebody get very, very upset!

C'mon, really? That's like shooting fish in a barrel, pardon the pun.

Even the second video not "cheating" using a bump technique (if you want to get technical) the second video shows you can dump 30 rounds (the "Standard" sized magazine) inside...what....5, maybe 6 seconds?

If you're going to get technical in that a semi auto magazine is limited to 5 in Canada, your argument doesn't get any stronger.

You don't need a semi to make a big mess. You can do a mass shooting with a lever, slide or bolt action too. The guy in that second vid has been doing a lot of practicing for that kind of shooting.

-- If I want to go hunting with a semi-automatic rifle, I see no difference compared to a bolt-action. You miss the first shot with a bolt and the animal runs away and dies an agonizing death because you couldn't get a second shot away fast enough. That's the benefit of hunting with an M14, or Ruger Ranch rifle. Both the Mini 14 and the M14 were used once in their history to perform a shooting. They have been around for over 50 years. Handguns are by far the choice of shooters, and almost all of crime guns are illegally owned.

-- I have never seen a poll on gun ownership that wasn't done by an organization campaigning to have guns outlawed. Their results are always skewed, like the latest one done right after a mass shooting with a leading question. There are however, massive petitions submitted to parliament by Canadians who want to keep their freedom to own rifles. There are also polls showing Canadians don't want guns outlawed.

So, just so we're clear....what do you think we should be doing right now?

I hear lots of complaints about how the government is handing out money right now and racking up debt.

But I don't hear a lot of these same people sharing their alternatives that they apparently feel constitutes a better idea.

This clown was running big deficits long before this crisis. Worse, he was doing it in a stellar economy (thank you Donald Trump) where there was absolutely no justification other than vote-buying (subsidizing newspapers etc.) AND in spite of lying that he would not run deficits.

That virus is all a socialist needed to go off the deep end. Now he's spending far, far more money than is necessary. The FOOL refused to listen to calls to close the border until his wife got sick, even giving away vital PPE to China.

Canadians are going to pay a heavy price for this. Taxes will have to go up. Either the GST will go up 5-7%, or the carbon tax (you know the one they were supposed to refund?) will shoot through the roof. We're also headed for a 60 cent dollar, so get used to paying a lot more for everything we import and if you're a consumer that's just about everything.

thats sort of the thing, every licenced gun owner, anyone that took a hunter safety training course, anybody that had to take the orientation to be at a range knows you never point a gun, loaded or unloaded at anybody ever. You never even hand a firearm to anybody when its loaded, even climbing a fence, you unload the gun.
But then there are idiots everywhere

I give my kids/nieces/nephews crap for pointing pew pews/nerf guns at me. Start them young. Don't point at anything you don't want to kill.

You will find that the quickest way to get yelled at, and/or asked to leave the firing line or the range is to violate the ACTS/PROVE protocols.

there's some onus on the person receiving the firearm to check and clear anything they are handed as well.

i have plenty of fun army stories of uncleared weapons with live and dummy rounds.

shared responsibility (if you enjoy living) is key.

This certainly moves the spotlight away from Trudeau's oversight of the pandemic.

I fear that Chretien's sponsorship scandal will seem like chicken feed compared to it.
