Nah, there was a time when I was making 19 3/4% on Canada Savings Bonds. Land was depreciating then.
early 80's?
mortgage rates went up over 20% around that time

Sounds about right. Some neighbors were burned speculating on houses, got divorced soon afterwards. The era of no-money down.early 80's?

This guy was also getting ready to eat/had just eaten, but at least he's not the Federal Minister of Health:She's not doing the job, period.
Waiting for a flight at YYZ. Apparently she's exempt from her own mask indoors in public rule.
I was getting ready to eat. Yeah, that's the ticket.
I'm waiting for the big forgiveness1.1 trillion plus. Don't cheat on your taxes or buy any bikes for $1 this year.
The governments are broke.
Can't even scrape together the funds for the Auditor to go over their books properly.

Bloc leader said he'd prop up the Gov in exchange for CERB amnesty

They are waiting for some huge eruption in the news cycle, something that will overshadow the economic statement.Later on in the Fall for an update? There's a little over a month left. When are we going to get a budget?
Dont need a budget when books balance themselves. Stop asking.Later on in the Fall for an update? There's a little over a month left. When are we going to get a budget?
Covid will probably over shadow any budget report, or delay for another few monthsThey are waiting for some huge eruption in the news cycle, something that will overshadow the economic statement.
It’s going to be very ugly. Very, very ugly.
They are probably like me (although for a very different reason) waiting for the almost inevitable stock market crash. Tuck the budget in then and spin it as we are hurting just like you. Recovery will take a very long time from a bloodbath of this magnitude . . . Etc etc. They are waiting for some huge eruption in the news cycle, something that will overshadow the economic statement.

Luxury tax makes a lot more sense. Generates a lot of money and is much more politically palatable. Ultimately, who cares if you add a few thousand to the price of a $10,000 rolex? Just don't buy it if you don't want to pay the tax. If you "have" to have it, pay the tax and enjoy the watch.18% GST?
I’m sure they understand how fast things turn when consumer confidence shrinks. When people worry the may lose jobs, homes, savings etc, no amount of pandering resonates. See Wynne as an example. They are probably like me (although for a very different reason) waiting for the almost inevitable stock market crash. It is interesting that JT has started talking about limiting spending. That has me terrified. How much has he lit on fire if even JT knows we are f'd?
