Ummm, yes you do. You've just gotten more money than you know what to do with. Not saying hire a FA but do something to keep the moolah ya just won. Stupidity.

Then again, 9 kids....
Worst case scenario you drop a milly in a locked gic and withdraw the interest. Live comfortably for a year. Rinse and repeat.

So it seems that it is possible to purchase tickets online. I'm gonna drop a few bucks. What can I say? I'm a gambling degenerate.

Link? I might just join you in the degenerate activity and screw up the odds even more in the process.

I have to think there'd be a lot of ****** Americans if a Canuck won it all. ;)

I'm just doing some research now, as to be valid, it has to be an authorized reseller. It seems many scammers have popped up already. Should have an answer by tomorrow night. But if you find something first, please share.

In the US, lottery and gaming winnings are taxed at a fairly high rate. Federal income tax would apply and, presumably, the winnings would need to be received through one of the participating State lottery commissions, meaning that State income tax would also apply. As far as Canada is concerned this is just income, so Provincial and Federal income taxes would also apply.

Everyone gets a cut.

I know that Canadians who win in Vegas can fill out some paperwork and get the tax refunded.

Perhaps it's the same with big ass lottery winnings???

See my earlier posts.

But at the end of it all...after everyone gets their cut, you're still filthy stinking rich.

Even if the tax ended up at 50%...you gonna complain if you win?
Even at 90% I'm not complaining.

Is it just me? That big of a jackpot would attract so much attention, I'd want no part of it.

Let me win 1 / 2 / 5 / 10 million, and I'd be ecstatic - a billion?!? No thanks, honestly.
