June 7th TMP, Roll call

Speaking of red flags I had something on my mind on the drive home after today I want to rant about.

At the second rider meeting the man in charge told us that the condition of turn 6 wasn't a TMP issue and responsibility of there being coolant on track rests with the riders. I know he crashed in it too and I'm sorry it happened but perhaps that is a bit of karma. From what I understand it was a novice rider on a street bike so perhaps we can say the rider didn't know any better but there is little excuse for the rider given how much information is easily available for new to track riders. My gripe is that that bike went through tech just like all the others and that very basic/very important detail was overlooked. As I see it that is a safety issue that affects every rider on the track and I'm a little disappointed in the organizer.

I noticed other things with bikes both while on track and walking about the pits that shouldn't have made it through tech so its not a one off item.

Today is the second shoddiest tech I've been through, only beat out by SMP last year who just didn't to tech at all!!!

End rant.

Was a gong show pre lunch. Whatever I still had fun. Agreed with the tech but I've only been to tmp and smp so I can't compare to a "good" tech.

Apparently someone spiller antifreeze at turn 6 which resulted in 5-6 crashes in that turn. All before lunch. Each group only ran 2 sessions each.

After lunch they had a 2nd riders meeting and decided we took turn 6 at 50% throttle.

What was done about the coolant leak? Why was coolant even allowed? My last day a Shannonville, a rider crashed and spilled oil over the span of about 100 ft or so, no one was allowed on the track until it was completely cleaned off. Even then, people were still taking it easy in that corner.

Who was the organizer at TMP today?

They put some powder on it and asked a few guys to take their car for a few laps to clear it lol. Coolant wasn't allowed but tech was slack so I got on some how.
Dunno who the organizer was but I paid thru tmp

What was done about the coolant leak?
After her bike started spraying antifreeze out the bottom it got on her rear wheel and she either crashed or ran off the track. The coolant spill on the track was not noticed for a few sessions so in the hot sun it had a chance to somewhat dry into that super slippery waxy mess. They tried to put cement dust on it, but because it was already dry, it didn't absorb anything. The sixth person to crash on the coolant also broke their brake fluid reservoirs and MAN is that stuff slippery, even after they tried to clean it up TWICE! Eventually they had to let cars out on the track to both blow off the cement dust and to drift through turn 6 to hopefully scrub off all the slippery stuff and lay down a little rubber. It was pretty good after that, especially considering I set my best lap ever in the afternoon (after the spill/second cleanup). Shaved more than two seconds off my previous best time and clocked in a few 1:22's today with my best lap being a 1:22.10.

Coolant is/was not allowed, it was "missed" during tech inspection. I saw her bike parked near tech inspection for quite some time first thing in the morning, but don't recall seeing her actually get inspected, but she might have got it done while I was getting breakfast.

Who was the organizer at TMP today?
It was the owners of TMP, the guys who royally screw up the groups every time... At tech inspection: "What color are you?" ... "Green"... perfect, lots of room in green.... A bunch of beginners started in the Advanced/Hot shoe (green!?!?) group! lol. I told EVERYONE going up to tech (I was pitted right beside) "When he asks for your colour, just tell him beginner, intermediate or advanced!!!" I don't know why HE just doesn't do that!! :(

I thought it was a great day, even with all the red flags. Couldn't have asked for better weather, sunny, warm, zero wind. I bumped up from intermediate to advanced for the afternoon and it's so much nicer learning from faster riders vs. putting around in intermediate and not getting passed by anyone all day. It was after following around Mikeymoto's friend on his 2012 R1 for a few laps that I was able to lay down my best lap ever after passing him on the side straight and running into no other traffic :)

Wow. It is one thing for coolant to get on the track in the first place. It is quite another to not notice / figure out what happened until a pile of other people crash on it. Man would I be ****** if that happened to me.

Every time i do TMP inspection I get the "your chain is to tight, or to loose"

Most other places, never say anything about the chain, but always ask me what is in my coolant. Never got asked at TMP yesterday.

Beautiful day, just spent in the pits in the morning, as crashes were happening.

Can't stand the flag setup at tmp either. We should just have a standard of flags for all tracks days
Green = novice
yellow = intermediate
red = advanced

they have it set up as
fast = green
intermediate = blue
beginner = white

coolant flush to water takes me 20mins. The rider who didn't do this ruined a lot of peoples day (including mine) mostly because i paid full price for tmp ($165 with tax) and felt like i got ripped off.

Definetly a weekend feel, as some riders should have not been in yellow. Going to Red (or tmp green) next time as litre bikes on the straights are killing me! hahaha

FYI - accossato master cylinder is amazing!

I've been trying to get TMP to go to a sign system like Pro 6.
Works well and simple. This way colour flags won't get confusing.
Red flag shouldn't be used as a group flag, it's too important as a track flag. Red flag should be emergency only.
3 bright green(safety green) flags. 1- has A= advanced,
I -for intermediate
B - for beginner.
Makes it easier also.
Oh thankful I didn't go... Sounds like a disaster day.

They may have noticed but didn’t think it would be an issue. Under normal circumstances coolant (water) would simply dry away. Glycol of course, doesn’t just dry up. It takes a cleanup to fix the problem. From what we see here TMP isn’t prepared for a glycol cleanup, and really, why should they be; glycol is not allowed.

Unlike an oil spill, a few good rain storms will dilute/absorb/wash away the glycol.

That sounds good! they just need a standard of track days, at least in Ontario.

There should be a system in place where the rider who went out with glycol gets a major fine which is distributed back to the other riders. Something like 3g or so to stop these idiot running anything other than water and wetter from ruining everyone's day.

Agreed post lunch was a lot better but I can't believe you had the best lap time after the spill. I crawled thru turn 6 all afternoon.
