June 16th TMP @ 5PM

^^ that's interesting... I don't remember everyone having numbers on their bikes?? But now that you mention it I think there is a blank spot on the registration forms to write bike numbers... I must have missed that detail cause I already had numbers on the bike and it really never crossed my mind - poser ;)

I'm eating some lunch and then starting to pack.
Hopefully the rain stays away! *Knocks on wood*

Feel free to stop by and chat, i'm going by myself this time, so it'll be different not having a bit of a pit crew.

See you guys out there!

Didn't see too many people show up. I was there all day with no rain, did it stay dry for the night?

Maybe 10 people on?

We didn't get on till about 6 pm at which point it started to rain. Track was dry by 7 pm maybe.

Not a bad day..

I was there in turn 6 marshaling - It got dry by 7pm, It was fine having an open session mixed, the experienced guys were doing clean passes and been carefull with the beginners, a few incidents but nothing mayor, a few warnings.

So, the day didn't start until 6PM when the rest of the marshals showed up. Apparently the marshals are supplied by TMP, not Turn2, so I wasn't too mad.

I was first out on the track, and it started POURING half way through my FIRST lap. Despite running at a snails pace, I lowsided going into T10.

I was going super slow, and was unhurt. As for the bike, the swingarm slider/spool sheared off, and rashed up my swingarm. Clutch lever took a little damage. Also my new case cover was ground down. Could have been much worse. Frame sliders saved my bodywork.

Also one of my gloves took a bit of a hit. Suit has a few more scuffs.

According to Mike (guym on here) who was marshaling in T11 [The only marshal who showed up on time!], it looked like I just lost the rear end. He thought too much rear brake, but I wasn't even using it, so it must of been that throttle opening point that always seems to jerk in the low gears. Also Mike gave me my broken spool back at the end of the day.

I got right back up and was riding again. Spun up the rear tire in 1st on the front straight once, that was fun :)

The track dried up, and I really think I improved. Able to get knee down on the RH bends, still need more work for the LH bends (Cayuga is a very right biased track). I focused more on corner dynamics, and it definitely helped. I was running a lot quicker then my last day.

It was open track from 6-9PM, and even though we were an hour short, I still got more track time in then in a regular day. Open track kicks *** by the way :) The guys running advanced seemed to pass nicely, I never really felt startled by them.

It was a PITA packing, setting up and tearing down all by myself. That's the only problem with Thursday, it's hard to get a pit crew together.

Turn2 seemed to run the session very well. They are very friendly people, and did a nice job of making the day enjoyable.

Also note, they [Turn2 tech] didn't ask me to have numbers, AND they don't require a ziptied kickstand. That saved my *** because my spool sheared off on my first lap of the day.

Despite everything, I still had a great time, and I will be going to another Thursday session with Turn2.

Cliffs:
-Doing a TD without a pitcrew sucks.
-Day started at 6PM
-I crashed first lap in the rain.
-Got back up and ran more KM then in a normal TD.
-Turn2 is good people
-Open track rocks!

I was just repeating what the Turn2 org said at the riders meeting.

Thanks for coming out :)

Good to hear your alright Kelvyn! Probably best case scenario for a crash considering there was not enough damage to sideline you or your bike. Open track sounds like a blast too. Congrats on the knee down and quicker pace! Are you planning on heading to the GWB next weekend?

Hey Justin!

Yeah, crash was definitely best case. Didn't hit my helmet, and minor damage to the bike.

I really wanted to go to the GWB next weekend, but i'm starting summer school this week, my dad has a surgery on Thursday, and I need to extract that spool shaft and get new spools before the bike will be track worthy again.

I might still be able to go, but chances are looking slim right now.

Oh and I bought an EZ-up shelter for the pits. No sun burn for me next time :)

Right on, yeah you guys looked toasty last time with only the couple umbrellas. I was going to ask you too, whats the proper method of getting the sheared bolt out? Any idea how you plan to tackle that?

I think I have extra spools hanging around but according to https://www.motomummy.com/store/pages.php?pageid=14 don't think they'll fit your R6.

Let me know if you are able to make it out next weekend, its looking like Saturday for me.

I'm going to start with a small reverse drill bit. There is no pressure on the bolt, so hopefully that'll do the job.
Failing that, i'll get an ez-out.

If all of that fails, i'm faced with drilling out the entire thing, and rethreading the swingarm. Hopefully it won't come to that though.

Yeah, damn Yamaha and their 6mm spools. That's probably why it snapped off, such a small shaft size. Thanks for the offer though. :)

Will do for next weekend. I'll try to get the stud out tomorrow and go from there.
