July 21st TMP highside video

Just to be clear I'm not the OP and I didn't crash. I did have a few oh sh*t moments. The worst was the little wobble next to the concrete barrier on the front straight.

I was getting that all day.

Op i was pitted next to you hope everything is ok bud

Watched it a few times. When u transitioned from right to left it sounds like u hit the shifter putting it down a gear. Back end locked and you got flung. Just my opinion.

You were rolling off the throttle when it happened, so I am guessing rear slide due to engine braking. Anytime the rear loses traction it can step out, and any time it steps out you can highside. Highsides do happen under braking (although much less often than under throttle). If I recall, there was some pretty dirty asphalt in that corner, so maybe the engine braking in combination with the low traction was enough to do it? What kind of shape was your rear tire in in the middle section?

Still, no matter what, pretty bizarre crash and definitely some bad luck. Heal quickly!

there was definitely ALOT of debris at the inside of that corner, id been hitting it all day no issue, but that does sound like what might have happened. i remember rolling off, then right as i go to roll on i hear the revs jump up an extra 5k rpm

thanks man, its already starting to feel better, be back out in no time!

fairly confident i didn't hit the shifter, but I'm definitely gonna watch where my left foot sits on the peg. thanks.

Somehow I got into the habit of always keeping the balls of my feet on the pegs at all times. The only exception is the left foot only for a brief instant when I need to shift. As far as I know it's personal preference, but I also think it gives you a better feel of the bike, also it's easier to put weight on the foot that way. I'm no expert so this may or may not be the correct way, but it works for me now, as well as when I was riding on the street in my previous life.

I explained this to a few riders over the weekend...Keeping balls of feet on the pegs serves a much more important role than that. Keeps those feet tucked up. If you duck-foot while you ride on the track, your days are numbered until you lean far enough to fold your foot under your peg at full lean. Then you will instinctively stand the bike up to release your foot, and you will run off the track. Your foot may already be toast...plus you then run the risk of crashing, and maybe taking another rider out with you.
Keep those feet up.

No wonder my toe sliders are in mint condition! ;) However, I meant to say I not only keep the balls of my inside (of the turn) foot on the peg, but also when I'm going straight, also the outside foot when cornering, and it's out of pure habit I think. I notice most people on the track as well as on TV (MotoGP) tuck in the inside foot for reasons mentioned above, but they keep the outside foot sticking out, which I personally find uncomfortable.

The apex of turn 4 is always covered in dirt. I went over it on Saturday when the mud was still fresh from the rain 1 hour ago and I almost highsided too, but you crashed just coming off turn 3, that area was clean even on Saturday. Hope you heal quick & it's not too serious

glad your okay man. when I seen the red flag and ambulance over there I was oh man that's not good, but after I see you get out of the ambulance I was happy yiou were ok. from the guy on the 2013 ninja a tent over. see you out there again soon.

It looks and sounds like you punched the throttle in he middle of transitioning from R to L. You can hear it at the 6 sec mark and if you go frame by frame you can see the bike leans over to the R while your body is positioned for a L hand turn. My guess is you had too much weight on your hands and it caused you to blip the throttle accidentally as you moved over on the seat.

It totally makes sense to keep the balls of your feet on the pegs, makes it that much easier to position your body for quick turns like 3-4-5. I agree that i must have blipped the throttle while putting too much pressure on my bars, I found myself do that a couple times throughout the day. Any tips on how I can modify my positioning so I don't have so much weight on the bars?

thanks dudes. It's actually healing really quickly, I feel like Wolverine.

Nice camera view for foot positioning.

I see you ride around town always with the suit. good stuff come buy the shop if you ever need scrubs

that was super weird. I was going to guess mechanical failure like something seizing solid. If the bike is still running you must have slammed it into first, that was bizarre.
