Stock up on all of your favorite aerosol products as JT kills many of them Jan 1/24.

Wd-40 will still be available as liquid but not spray. That is a far less convenient form factor.

Morons. He's never lubed or cleaned a single thing in his entire life.

That is bull crap.

I see it selling out at local hardware stores in the next few months and prices jumping before the true ban or the rumored ban.

You're right that its bull crap. There is no ban on WD-40

Is this a marketing scheme by WD-40 possibly?

I bet their sales will jump in the next few months.

I got one of these bulk kits from Princess Auto a few years ago and haven't looked back. I'll have to look to see if the nozzle accepts a straw, but for my use the stream setting is fine as I only use it for degreasing.

From the article:

"It has recently come to our attention that false information is circulating online that WD-40® Brand products are being banned in Canada," WD-40 stated.
"This is not a true statement. Although there are currently regulatory changes taking place in Canada, we have been aware of these regulatory changes and have been preparing for them for some time."
The company said all WD-40 products including WD-40® Multi-Use Product, WD-40 Specialist®, and 3-IN-ONE® brands will be compliant with the new regulations as of January 1, 2024.

BTW,
JT also banned Kleenex, that's why their pulling out.

I’m going to have to disagree. I’m pretty sure JT is quite familiar with the use of lube, I’d put money on it.

Funny how the article focuses exclusively on WD40 which has an emotional connection for pretty much all of us. Rather, this is a general aerosol regulation change.

We have known aerosol's are bad for decades now, not sure how this is surprising.

wd-40 is not banned. It sounds like the useful aerosol format will be. Or maybe not. The WD-40 statement was very ambiguous. Did they reformulate propellant or drop the spray cans?

A large company I know was going through a crap ton of WD-40 cans. Bean counters bought a 45 gallon drum to save money. Use dropped almost to zero. Nobody was in love with the product, everybody loved the convenience.

Didn't the previous ban from years ago on, I believe CFC propellants, which were bad for the ozone, just make them use a different safer propellant? Aerosol cans are still around so not sure what this is really about.

I thought we fixed the aerosol problem buy changing the propellant?

The restrictions are on the content and type of the aerosol propellants, not specifically on the spray can form factor. The worst of the ozone-depleting offenders (CFCs and HCFCs) have already started being phased out. Their replacements (HFCs) are less bad, but still have their own problems and will start to be phased out. As far as I can tell, there's nothing to say that some other type of propellant cannot be used in their place.

The source is suspicious.
I agree 100%. Definitely not my preferred source of anything. WD-40 crap ambiguous press release does little to clear things up.

Hopefully this just means reformulation and not removal of aerosols. It's hard to find good propellants that aren't fluorocarbons or flammable though.

If this is just reformulation and not removal of aerosols, it makes sense WD-40 would be reformulated. Lower volume products may not bother to make the effort (like certain types of chain lube) as the cost may exceed potential profit from canadian distribution.

I'll become like the people with toilet paper and hand sanitizer...buy up a full garage worth and then sell it for profit!

Finally learning to scam my way to prosperity.

Exactly what I thought. Guess whatever was safe enough back then is now no longer safe any more?
