Joe Bass' technology woes thread

I recall seeing something somewhere to have Play Store reinstall all your apps. My problem with this process is that it remembers every app you've ever downloaded and installs all of them unless you remove them from your profile.

So unless you remove an app from your profile every time you uninstall one from your phone you'll get everything you ever tried and didn't want.

Maybe it's improved since then. That was a year or so ago on some Note device.

The LG G4 has a built in app called Mobile Switch. It will transition all of your settings and such from your old android device. If you want to start fresh, just sign in to the new phone and Google play store will do the rest.

That sounds like something that would make it easier for me. Thanks.
Is there an advantage of one over the other?

Not really. The mobile switch makes it a bit faster. Otherwise you're just waiting for the phone to do all the downloads and updates.

And when my wife gets her phone, kid gets her old 4S.
I will take the old BB Torch. Iirc someone said I can use Waze on that, right? That would solve my nfg gps bs.

Go grab a 32GB card at least. Pop a new one in. Done. Costco has them for good prices.

Make sure you have a good 2+ amp charger for the torch (I've had great experiences with Anker charges, I've bought 5 and only 1 has minor issues [after being used daily for years]). My wifes old Torch would still lose battery charge like crazy while running waze and plugged into a 1 amp charger.

2 Kingston digital for $46, that's good, right?

So long as it's at least a class 10, sure. You want good read and write speeds to keep up with the camera and video features on the new phone.

@Joe go to Canada computers if you are not sure, they have SD cards on sale most of the times.
Buy a 64gb class 10 (faster the better).

Also go on Youtube and checkout the CarHome Ultra app. I set that app up on my spare phone to use on the bike. You can use it for your car if you want.

You will have the option when you put the sdcard in to make it part of the phone's memory so 1 large 64gb+32gb that will function as 1 memory unit or keep the phone at 32 and your card separate. I have kept mine separate since the phone has 32gb. I can always point the photos and videos to the 64gb if I run out of space on the phone.

Uhm, doesn't it matter what actual use will be made of the card? Or we should all just get the biggest baddest SD card, because the phone will be sad otherwise?
