Jagmeet draws a red line... will he follow through?

Last week NDP leader Singh drew a red line for the Liberals regarding the NDP's New Democrats’ demand for a universal public pharmacare program.

Singh stated, "I put him on notice that we expect that by March 1, if not there will be repercussions... if the government doesn't follow through."

His threat is to withdraw support for the Liberal/NDP coalition, which would open the chance for a non-confidence vote that triggers an election. Will he follow through or opt to keep his coalition powers?

Good question.

My gut tells me it's a bluff, but the NDP did just have their caucus/leadership review didn't they? Could be Jagmeet has been put on notice in regards to continued support.

He’s checking the temperature. NDP can’t ride the Liberal train to the end of the term and let Trudeau call an election. It’s the only power move the NDP has.

Will it translate to more seats with an election for the NDP? I doubt it.

Everyone knows that access to dental care and medication isn’t free. Folks are still feeling the cost of inflation and don’t think they want higher taxes to give new immigrants more stuff.

Nothing more than empty threats. He knows the only way NDP keeps any semblance of 'power' or 'influence' is by being part of the Liberal train (wreck?) that's plugging along.

He may think that if there's an election, there's enough hate on JT that the NDP could take 2nd place nationally...but doubtful.

Most of the middle class will find out soon enough that once they read the fine print they won't qualify for the "universal" dental care, anyway.

Nope. March 2nd "we are in talks with current Gov on resolving this issue". Then nothing more will be heard.

If this program can work and it means several thousand kids will get the dental work they need, I’m on side . So many other health challenges are related to poor dental. It’s not the worst idea. .
I did see the dentists and hygienists speaking on tbe news this morning that they don’t feel they will be fairly compensated. So F them . Maybe do a little pro bono work to help people along .

The senior drug plan is full of asterisks. Some drugs aren't covered, there's a yearly deductible, and per prescription dispensing fee

I hate when good politicians join the bloody communist party... you can't VOTE for him. (Do you want a local NDP MP?)

BC politics used to be fun, much more of a "contact sport". The BC voters get ****** at the conservatives, then vote in the NDP. The NDP introduces a million social programs, and gets tossed right quick... to be replaced by the liberals, that kills 900,000 social programs (so there is an actual net gain)... which pisses off the voters and they elect the conservatives again... rinse and repeat.

According to my dentist, the price schedule for the upcoming senior's dental plan... is based on 1997 prices
be prepared to be dropped as a client when you turn 65.

As long as the NDP insist on racist and sexist policies at their conventions and meetings, I will definitely not support them, and will definitely tell anyone that asks why.

As for Jagmeet ... he's a champagne socialist, do you really want one of those?

If I'm throwing away my vote I don't much care who gets it.
