Isle of Man TT 2022

I believe the figure is 5 fatalities this yr unfortunately . Two single riders (one during practice, one making his 80th start in the IOMTT), one French? sidecar driver (his teammate is in hospital), and the father/son team today.

When I was younger, I dreamed of going to the isle of man and competing... now as an older bloke with kids it's not something I'd risk. Watching is still entertaining and makes one daydream of what ifs.

And here I was expecting a post about putting speed cameras on the course with huge fines and suspensions/impounds.

The event was first held in 1907 with 101 race meets taking place since then. Since 1937, the only year in which races have been held and no fatalities were recorded was in 1982 and a total of 263 fatalities have occured at the Isle of Man TT.

Its time to shut it down, its ridiculous the loss of life and the effect of the families ie: mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, wives. Its not just about the riders.

100% I'd put them there, for all the idiots pretending when the TT isn't on and normal traffic is using the roads....

Shut it down because you don't like it....when in reality you've never even ridden it? Ive never sky dived, but it seems dangerous so im going to petition to have it banned. Come on.

They have interviewed the deceased families and even they don't want it shut down. Their husbands, sons, daughters, wives all know the risk. It's not like they sign up riders with absolutely no riding experience just to get killed. Every rider is more than experienced and knows the risks. To tell them what they can and can't do is insulting to their own skills and dreams.
