I commute to work daily using Eglinton east to west, no more then 5000RPM. I asked some 250 Ninja guys and they didnt get this mileage with their 250s. Is something wrong? I asked TED from Rosey toes and he told me your bike is not running lean or you will hear a pops from your exhaust. Any advice?

What are you complaining about? You are getting great mileage, you have no problems with the bike (i.e. it's not running lean). Ah, you are showing off!

P.S. If you really want to compare your gas mileage with other bikes, ask on GSTwin forums.

It just means you drive like my grandma :D

Majority of people like to twist their wrists on a bike which makes you mileage go down, I have gotten 320kms on a 17L tank 2-upping where my weekend rides I get about 225kms.

Not trying to show off, just wondering because running lean will F up the bike. I dont want that to happen and the only problem i can think of is running lean which is why i asked.

I get similar mileage on my 250 as well. As others have said it's great mileage enjoy it, an SS gets half that for 18 L

I certainly love the mileage but a bit concerned if this is due to anything which will cause problems in the long term.

thats about right for a 250, i was getting 300km right about when the Refuel light shows up

I get the same mileage on my ZX12 as well. Oh....wait, I didn't see the 3 infront of the 98km per tank.........my bad!

Grandpa perhaps?;) The numbers sound very conservative.

When I first got mine I would drive it carefully with low revs and could get 350/tank max.
Now, having fun I get 300 and thats with highway.

A gs500 is jetted lean from the factory to meet emissions regulations (like most bikes). From my own gs500 experience, your mileage is about right. Check the valves/cam chain at the recommended intervals and keep going.

You aren't necessarily running lean, I can get the same km/L on mine if I baby it on the highway.

But half the gas mileage for 10X the acceleration is worth the sacrifice :D

Some SS are pretty awesome on fuel when you consider the performance.

I had a 2004 R6 and no matter what I gave it my average return was always around 55mpg

Which I think works out to around 19.38km/l

When I'm riding slow I get close to 400kms before I have to switch to reserve. On the highway however, at 8k rpms in 6th I get a little over 300kms before the reserve sputter begins. If you're in the city the whole time you won't get to a high enough speed (hopefully) where aero comes into play and kills fuel consumption. 2006 GS500F.

Out of curiosity, just how far off is our speedometer? There's no way I'm going as fast as that things says I am.
