Been starting to drive with the dog a lot and I don't know if it's illegal to drive with a dog where they aren't fastened with a special seatbelt or in a crate etc... Also is it ok for them to stick their head out? I obviously don't roll the windows down all the way.

Couldn't find it on google for toronto. In this ticket first economy I figured it best to find out before suffering from it.

I think the only way you would be ticketed for driving with a dog not fastened is if they were on your lap or being a distraction to your safe operation of the vehicle. I think a careless driving charge would apply. I drive around with my dog all the time and never had a issue.

Never heard of it being illegal, but might be a good idea to get a seatbelt harness for your dog as well as NOT allowing them to stick their head out the window (unless they have doggles on). It can cause serious damage to their eyes.

My dogs love looking out the windows... I have heard that they are supposed to be in the back seat, outer trunk (no closed style... Suv only obviously) with a cage to stop them from getting to you. 99% of people don't and it's not enforced, but in the event of a serious accident, they can unfortunately become very injured or dangerous to the driver should they become airborne...

Did not know that. Never seen googles on a dog sticking their head out of the car unless if they were on a motorcycle sidecar.

It's illegal in Illinois.

Thanks for letting me know. Right now it's a two man mission to take her on a car ride. One person holding her back in the back seat just incase if she gets any ideas. When I solo with her it'll be a seat belt and some sort of cage setup to prevent her from jumping on the main seat. She definitely tries to jump in the front seat.

I've seem some ppl drive with their dogs on their lap. Where is Mr. Officer when u need him?

This drives me up the wall -- no pun intended. The stupid dog is in the way of everything a driver needs, things like those reflective doo-dads attached to the side of a car and that round thing inappropriately placed right in front of one of the seats.... I hate seeing this more than people on the phone. One day I'll pull up beside one of these people at a red, get off the bike and punch their puppy. Who wants their dog walking all over them anyhow??? Usually its those little yappy dogs with little pointy paws, one wrong step and "Mr. My wife tells me I like little dogs with bows" is causing a wreck.

Sorry for the rant, touched a nerve.

As long as you video tape yourself doing it and post it up for our amusement. Otherwise, cool story bro.

Sounds like the dog needs some training. We have a 4 month old pup that sits and stays on command and always sits in the back seat and doesn't move until he tells us he has to pee. My labs ride in the bed of my truck and don't jump out even if I run in to a store.

She's a siberian husky. It's her nature. She gets very anxious and excited when riding in the car... wants to look all around.

This is so absurd. You rant about the idiocy of a negligent and irresponsible dog-owner/driver, and you see it as fit to punish the dog?????????

If you're going to punch, get a grip on what should be the target. The dog is already a victim of an ******* owner and you want to punish it further???
Geez....dog hater or what

I seen someone driving a moped come zooming around the corner on queen a few days ago with his German Shepherd sitting on the floor.

WTF?? thats a first. I am curious how he fit that dog there

Don't know...but keep in mind the dog may cause a serious obstruction depending on it's size. I had a woman start to pull out in front of me 'cause she didn't see me past her big friggin' dog that was sitting up in the passenger seat! Thankfully, she realised her view was blocked and leaned around the dog for a second glance (and stopped moving).
