Is the season over?

If you buy a Ural, there's no such thing as an "end of season"! (-;

Prices, as the others say, don't drop significantly in the off-season. Plus many dealers just close up shop for the winter unless they're doing ATV/Snowmobile business as well
 
beginner bikes seem to stay at a certain threshhold which does not have quite as much variance as higher priced rides. End of season people are looking to offload, so on a $3000-$4000, maybe a $500ish difference between fall and spring. Really just a supply and demand equation. More stuff goes on the market in the fall, more demand in the spring. Insurance is typically pro-rated, so it is a non-factor.

there is always someone desperate to sell, you do not need to wait until the post season...just need to know the market value for the bike you're looking for and continuously check the classifieds here and on kijiji.

this is correct, there is a deal always.

there is a lot of riding season left. i rode into november last year. and knew people that rode even more.

so you have to consider. do i want to save $500-600 or do i want to ride for another 3-4 months. it comes down to how much you want to ride.

Go to kahuna and pick up a brand spanking new 2011 zx6r for $9188 on the road. That's an unbeatable deal. Not advertising for them. But thats cheap!!!
 
It better not be over yet! I just picked up my 1st (road worthy) bike to be safetied this week. Then woo hoo.

I don't care that it's the middle of august. I saw folks out there till the snow fell last year.

So I guess as someone mentioned before me, it's as much climate as you're willing to deal with.
 
When I didn't have the luxury of four wheels with heated seats and was prolonging TTC a long as possible...My "rule" for when I packed the bike away was when the city salted the roads. After that, game over for me.
 
Wabbit season or duck season?
 
Just for some perspective, I bought a bike near the end of October last year. I was able to get more than a month of riding in before having to put it away. I was also able to get a good price on the bike thanks in part to the time of year and some negotiating. Also, my insurance is with TD and it cost me only $50 to insure until February, which is when their start of season is. This was because of the pro-rated schedule TD uses.
 
I will ride in the cold for free parking... but ice and snow is where this newbie should draw the line.
