well just got my quote from hamilton state farm. $2985 a year for a 2008 yamaha r6 that has 9000km.. so $7000 for the bike plus 2985 is $9985.

Do you guys think its worth it?

Yes. Make sure to crash it after year two though.

im crossing over from the motocross scene.. i raced for 8 years. im just wondering if the price is reasonable for the bike itself..

lol that $3k can buy you another r6

$3K for an 08 R6.... that kinda steep --- Im assuming your a younger rider...or perhaps you have something on your licence....
Shop around....you might have to bite the 3K bullet if you wanna ride...anything you save will be gravy

What does that have to do with someone purchasing a 2008 R6?

Gee I don't know, my original post merely pointed out that for $3k that's another used bike.....which is almost half of what the bike is....

Why buy a $20K bike when you can buy 2 or 3 or 4 cheaper bikes?

because i'm not paying 10k on insurance....
The point is that you're spending the money on something you enjoy.
Whether it's a $1K beater or an $80K Desmosedici, if you can afford it, there's no point in saying what could be bought for the same amount or less.

So if that's the case OP shouldn't even need to create a thread asking if it's worth it.....if you ballin then everything is worth it.

do a quick quote online TD/primmum. Best rate I found so far in the hamilton area.

ill be 23 this april. clean driving record everything. i live in northern ontario which is cheaper than GTA. so far perry sound state farm has given me a quote of 248.85 monthly. and it doesnt matter if i have my M1 or M2. its all about the bike.

You gotta shop around, we recommend different insurance companies to all riders. I find it depends on who you talk to that day, and if the underwriters wife burnt his toast that morning your in for it.
Call as many places as you can and see who gives you the best deal.
Cheers
D.

You might be better off getting a full fairing SV650, learn to ride, pay cheaper insurance.
Think about it, you will be working to give the insurance company your money. I think your goal is to give them the least.
Your ego might want that R6 but I have seen some nice SV650's. Learn to ride, buy proper gear, tires etc...
Do some track days, you will be a better rider than most of your peers.
Let your ego go, invest in yourself, save your hard earned money.
good luck!
