Is it legal to set up cones in an empty parking lot to practise ?

Whatever happened to my generation that were kids in the 70s when we did whatever we wanted and to hell with the rules? Yeah we got hurt or into trouble but we're still around to remember. Today I'm living in a world surrounded by hand-wringers and worry-warts.

Those days are sadly long gone. To add to your list today's kids are bloody allergic to everything too. No pb&j at school. Wtf! ?!

Our past sins have come back to haunt us....we're paying for what we did in the 70's ! :p

You guys ruined it for the rest of us :violent1:

Can I do that? set up cones late evening or early morning on crappy tire or a school or a church or a library parking lot? vee early hrs of the morning or late night when there's no cars or ppl around? or would the cops consider it stunting or reckless driving or w/e in a private property?

So for starters i called the non - emergency Toronto police line earlier in spring and spoke to a traffic expert. The officer although didn't answer questions like can i stunt directly he clearly admitted that any parking lot is considered private property and does not fall under the HTA. Therefore you can ride without insurance, license and do as you wish. It would be ideal that you get permission from property owners ex. Malls. At the worst security will kick you out or call the cops which they will ask you to leave.

So to answer your question yes you can. Police can not kick you out unless there is a complaint from property owners or security.

However if you need to practice for serpentine run etc i suggest you to to an MTO drive test centre. They have cones in the back where they conduct tests, if they don't there are lines painted on the ground so you can practice with that.
