is it cooler to ride a naked bike during hot summer?

This may be the reason naked bike is cooler in the summer.

In order to match a full fairing bike, rider ride with full leather.

Yes, a naked bike is cooler in the summer. The flip side is you can ride it longer in the fall.

If i could ride my Wing with no windshield i would. That's the reason i wear a 3/4 helmet sometimes on it.A big engine between your legs makes things quite warm.

it depends, i ride to work in my suite, i tried the other day without my jacket, your shirt fills out like the stay puff marshmellow, your tie, even though you tuck it into your shirt, comes out and wants to strangle you...and on the 401 for that quick stretch, every particle of sand wants to tear your skin off...i'm such a pussy...but it wasn't as comfortable as i thought it would be...as for being cooler, i actually found it nicer with my jacket on since it is perforated...

the real question is is it cooler to ride a bike naked during hot summer?

Suit? Don't see that much, though there was a suit on two wheels at Sayal Electronics at Dixie and Matheson last week.

+1 for perforated jackets

I always ride in full leathers and the heat rarely bothers me but take that with a grain of salt since I find my tolerance for heat is higher than others. I would think that as long as you're moving at a reasonable speed you would be pretty cool on a sport or naked bike. Getting caught in bumper to bumper traffic on an air-cooled bike can get pretty bad. I had that happen once and it was a terrible experience - my thighs were literally burning from the heat against the machine and my bike started turning itself off. It sucked.

I will say that in the late fall when I go ride it is much cooler without the windshield. That's when it hits you and you kind of wish that you had one.

Full fairings is like being in a sweat box. No fairings is like standing in front a giant hair dryer. It all depends on whether you like dry or humid heat.

I don't know which would be cooler under normal conditions, I would think the naked bike. However, in the city traffic I would think the difference is much less. When those cooling fans come on in my s4r, I feel like I'm being bbq'd !!

its always cooler to ride a naked bike

yes and i'm going to take the windshield off my naked bike :D

It's definitely cheaper to fix a crashed naked bike, but not a crashed naked rider.

I demo'd a fully decked out Wing on the weekend and that was one of my peeves. Absolutely no wind whatsoever from the huge windscreen. Almost felt like driving a caddy except I had to put my foot down every once in a while.
