You have to remember that it is still and infant OS, but it does just as much if not more then the iphone, espically when iOS was new, which fanboys forget, depending on what your needs are. I have the HTC HD7 from T-Mobile and it is sturdy, feels strong and it's a nice fit for the hand. It has a lot of good apps, but again, depends on what you want from the app shops. The limitions on the customizations are again, a personal preference. What is it that you need to customize? A case? Wallpaper? Jailbreak for themes?

Im talking from a consumer standpoint... not from a tech blog standpoint. I don't think customers care which OS has been around longer. They're plopping down cash for features and usability, and to me it still seems that WP7 is a ways behind. When you consider that people will probably switch phones every 2-3 years max, it may be dumb to buy a Windows phone over iOS or Android right now. By the time WP7 catches up (if it ever does) your hardware will probably be obsolete.

So again, from a consurmer standpoint, why wouldn't you buy a WP7? For what funcationality is it that you would need on a iphone or andriod phone that you cannot have on a WP7? WP7 has apps. I can surf the net. Oh, I can get on FB... Or is it that most consumers, not from a tech standpoint would never buy andriod, because they want what everyone else has, the iphone because apple is a marketing powerhouse. I either am reading your point wrong, or I'm in way left field on my WP7.
 
I thought I already stated it in my first post? Customization and availability of apps. Android and iOS are 10x more robust in both categories. I can't sit here and think of 10,000 apps that I want in iOS which you can't get in WP7, but believe me they're out there.

I use a Navionics gps enabled charting application when sailing, for instance. Can't get that in WP7.

From a consumer standpoint, if you want a phone to use as a phone, WP7 is the way to go. Its easier to use than iOS if you can believe that, and the interface is amazing for text messaging, emails and making calls. You are spot on about apps and customization though, MS really shot themselves in the foot by locking the phone down and requiring devs to pay to develop for the phone. If they had made development free for the first couple years to get the app market up, and if they had subsidized the phones a bit to make them more affordable, and if they had not locked down everything so that modding was easier (you STILL cant add ringtones without hacking the phone), WP7 would have been incredible. They also released a microsoft phone that wont link to corporate exchange servers so that was a big mistake. How many IT guys were hella excited for WP7 because they thought it would be soooooo easy to set users up with their corporate mail and calendars, only to realise that the microsoft phone doesnt work with microsoft enterprise applications... another shot in the foot right there because they could have easily stole the corporate market from blackberry by making it easier and free.

As is, i recommend it to people who are considering an iphone and dont care about apps but just want a phone thats easy to use. But to people who like android phones i cant recommend it because its completely uncustomizable. And to people who like iphone because of all the apps i also cant recommend it because the apps just arent there and probably wont be because development isnt worth learning or paying for licences (100 bucks per dev for a company to develop for WP7, and 100 bucks a person for people who just want to develop for themselves... big mistake).

Microsoft will not give up on the mobile market though because its going to be so important in the future, so expect Windows Phone 8 (which will probably hit mid to late 2012) to be absolutely spectacular.

Yeah, that was BS because telus didnt actually have any phones available for sale that day. Well, they had the 1 HTC model but no others, and all the stores doing that promotion ran out of phones way before they ran out of xboxes (most phones available was eatons center with 5 phones... Other stores had 1 or 2 available). The LG phones were supposed to come that day as well but a shipping delay pushed them back 2 weeks. I was kind of ****** off because i wanted a new xbox (mine is old and loud) but they wouldnt give me one when the LG phones finally did show up.

Hey bob!!! Sorry to hear man, but Ebgames just finished a stellar trade in any xbox and get a brand new 'slim' for 29.99$. They would give you $100 credit for a new console, and they had a sale of 129.99 for the new slim. It was 4gb, but you can easily dump a phater 360 disk into it, still SATA...

explain? I've had a 3G and now have a 4. Best phones on the market when I got them not to mention an eco system I am already apart of and have purchased content. (itunes, apps etc).
 
I've a 3G as well, its been superb. It's tough as nails too, I've dropped it on concrete and various hard surfaces without a case and it survives no problem. I'll continue buying Apple products as long as they keep making them to such high specifications. Apple haters confuse me. Insanity would be to buy a different brand when this one has served me so well....
 
Hey its not my fault Windows phone doesn't attract bigtime developers who cater to us yachtsmen.
 
Oh does TD Bank have a WP7 app? I bet I couldn't even do web-banking on a Windows phone.... FOR SHAME.
