invasive popups?

I installed a popup blocker today, something I've never needed before, and then put GTAM on it's blacklist.

So far, so good.

I hope that this gets addressed sooner than later - I know some people will fall prey to those "Your computer has a virus and you MUST install this update to continue" type stuff.
 
So nobody wants to use the app? Still nothing here.

Last time I got an invasive popup was grade 10 when I had to write an answer on the board in math.

I'll see myself out.

Hey all... I believe I have a traced to our ad program.

I've stripped the ads from the old skin and can't get the popups.

As a solution until I can get to the permanent fix:

Go to your profile settings.

On the menu on the left you'll see general settings. Click that.

Near the bottom you'll see four skin - change that to vb4style Ole blue.

Let me know if you still get pop ups with that?

That's the style that I have been using for the last couple of years. I get pop up's every 3rd or 4th click.

x2. I also hate mobile-view versions of websites - too many features/options go missing usually. I always opt for the full website version on my browser when mobile.

You will hate it then. Pretty much a clone.
It works for me because I'm pretty much useless with anything techy and this dumbs it down quite a bit.

My iPad was immune to the popups, but my Macbook was affected. I just switched to vb4style Ole blue and it seems to have done the trick.
 
Seriously? Still update you code and prevent them from I jectig code. daily user for years but I'm done until this is fixed up. So annoying.

I call shenanigans. :P

In related news, 2 pop ups on iPhone while trying to respond to this. Pop up blocker on my Mac has solved my issues there.
 
Paul, might I suggest disabling the problematic template and forcing everyone to "ole blue" until you get things resolved? I fear that a lot of people are ending up with malware and virus' as a result of this, not to mention the user frustration and hit on traffic that can come along with it.

Fwiw I just switched to the old template and so far so good.

But most won't see that suggestion/fix. Just force it.
 
Switched to the old blue template.
Seems to be working thus far and have not gotten a pop up since switching back.

I only use ole blue as I don't like the newer format and still get pop ups.
