Interesting Article

Better Brampton than next door to me. Cars parked jamming the street, modified lawns for more parking and the population density of multi family in what are essentially single family dwellings, no thanks.

I hope the developers gets to build what fits in municipal guidelines, not culturally appropriate homes.

I'm completely against trying to coerce the builders to fit their needs. However, I don't care for your "we don't like your kind 'round here" attitudes.

Not everyone wants to have a family with two kids. To be frank, they are an integral part in our society, and dismissing/undermining them negatively affects us all.

Just my 2¢

Monoculture areas are a terrible idea. I understand living in an area with similar people, but some diversity is a good thing.

Assuming that the majority of the people that live in the area are Punjabi (it's hard to tell from the article what percentage they actually represent) and if Punjabi people do not want townhouses (as indicated by the counselor), then putting in townhouses to help encourage diversity is a great idea.

As for the argument of dragging down prices in the neighbourhood, $300,000 townhouses are not community housing, they attract people with a decent amount of money. I doubt there will be much effect on the existing single family home prices.

I used to visit friends in Brampton in the late 90's early 00's.
I recently went through the area and wow.
The amount of change is staggering.
The garbage is staggering.
I was luck arriving when I did and departing because the traffic coming in was ridiculous.

I guess it has come down to pick your community based on your country of origin.
I am not sure if the cultural wars between the groups fully exist meaning whatever differences they had back home comes here e.g. the Sri Lankan's. I an odd way we will have countries within a country.

It is sad to see Canada become this way. Before anyone pipes in and labels me a xenophobe, please have a look at the definition first.

You're a racist for pointing this out, however the people who are against other races living next to them aren't.

/sarcasm.

I was actually waiting for karentsang and that other person to call me a racists.
I think I beat most to the punch when they looked up the definition for xenophobe:D
From what I have seen I certainly would not want to live in Brampton.
The traffic to get in and out is a deal breaker alone.
I don't see Brampton improving because like minds are running the show and will continue down this path.
