Insuring a second bike

He meant on the bike lol

I think it applies in both scenarios lol

Pick your poison.

It might be agent dependent as well...SF let me put my SS, bike only policy, on fire/theft during the summer of 2012 when I was out due to an injury. I did not have to provide an explanation beyond "for personal reasons" I will not be riding during the summer so I don't want to pay the full premium. No issue...the agent offered up the fire/theft only option on the bike. My house / car insurance was with TD MM at the time.

i hear statefarm is good like that. they won't insure me since i've got demerit points.
i'm with TD/Primmum and they would not let me insure a second bike for only fire and theft, even though I offered to show them that the odometer hadn't moved.

Does the same apply for automobiles?

It's more or less the same situation. I am in a position where I will be using a dedicated tow vehicle separate from the daily driver next year. No choice but to insure the daily driver all year, but the tow vehicle is either going to be insured as an RV (which is pretty cheap) or if they won't go for it, it's only going to be insured for 6 months out of the year and will sit parked for the rest. My State Farm agent is okay with suspending coverage for 6 months at a time.

Yes it does. I have a pick up that I use VERY sparingly, (for towing trailers/ATV's etc). normally it sits all winter as i don't need to tow anything bigger. I insure it at my cottage address as that is where it primarily sits, (the cottage road isn't plowed in the winter), nor is the driveway so to get it out I would need to go and snowblow the lane and then the drive. But I still get just my 10% multi vehicle discount, ( I have the max number of vehicles insured for a single person with Desjardins, (Bike, ATV, Truck and car), obviously the ATV is cheapest, truck is about $1200 per year with NO collision, (it is a 95)

Don't you mean because you have a ticket? I have never heard of an insurance company looking at demerit points

that's what I was told by the SF agent I spoke with. They added that they only insure drivers with clean driving records.
I had 3 demerit points at the time from a speeding ticket.
