Insurance Suzuki GS500?

Hey guys,

Im buying a GS500 at the beginning of next season.
Just wondering what I should be expecting to pay per year or per 6 mths for insurance.
Im 19, have 5 or 6 speeding tickets on my G license (don't know if that matters).
I don't have my M license yet, I'm waiting until before I buy the bike because I think it expires after 2 months or something so it would be a waste for me to get it right now.

Thanks

Yeah...it does matter. Insurance is going to be outrageous. Wait until those tickets come off your record and re-evaluate if you should really be riding.

You Should dangerous, But so was I,
I am going to save you a lot of money right now so listen the **** up

Go get your M1 Right now!!! I mean tomorrow, enrol in an m1 exit course as soon as possible, the cost is worth it!!!!!! this will give you an M2 in 60 days before you get your bike. it will also start the clock ticking on your "years licensed"

If you get a bike in spring, this will give you the best rate, go with a company that doesn't look at car driving history like TDMM.

if you delay another year for whatever reason, your insurance will be that much cheaper with another year licensed and you can get your M sooner.

Buy a 250 CC, in fact, if you wait till next spring, you can buy mine, i'll be upgrading.

Good luck my friend, get **** done!!!!!!! and be careful.

Who said TDMM don't look at car driving history?

Do any of the following apply to you?

  • Driving convictions in the last three years (excluding parking violations)
  • Motorcycle accidents in the last ten years
  • Insurance claims in the last ten years

He can get M1 now, but no riding schools have courses offering for M1 exit (getting M2) at this time of the year.

MTO is not offering road tests neither.

Motorcycle Road Tests

Motorcycle tests are conducted at DriveTest Driver Examination Centres on a seasonal basis. Depending on the weather, motorcycle tests are available from early May to the end of September. The M1 licence must be held at least 60 days before you are eligible to attempt the M1 road test. The licence is valid for 90 days. Please plan the completion of your motorcycle knowledge test accordingly.

I thought when you got an M1 there was a mandatory 30 days before you can take the M1 exit to get M2?

Forgive me if I'm wrong it's been years since I had to go through all that.

Get your M1 now even if you can't get your M2 within the 90 day period (which you probably won't be able to do). Then in the spring, get your M1 again, but since you'll have had it expire once, you won't have to wait the 60 day minimum before you can get your M2. Once that's all done, wait about 3 weeks and pick up a bus pass. If you've collected 6 speeding tickets with a car and you're only 19, then you may get lucky and only lose your license on a bike.

You can take the class but not hand in the paperwork until you hit 60 days.

Before listening to puttockc's advice, get a hypothetical insurance quote for the bikes you want to get before actually committing to purchase it. 5-6 tickets will probably get you in the range of Trix202's post for most companies.

You'll be lucky to get $5000 lol

Why are you asking here? Is it because when you go to insurance websites for a quote, they tell you to 'call them'? Go to insurancehotline, tdmm, statefarm, etc. etc and get an online quote. I'd be surprised if they even insure you with so many tickets. THEN look at buying a bike. GS500 is an excellent bike btw.
