Hey everyone, just wanting to get some information from some knowledgeable people who know what they are talkin about... I'm 22 years old, don't have my license yet.. I want to start with my bike license and what I'm wondering is when I go write the test and walk out of there with my m1(i want to start riding that day if its possible lol).. if I was to buy say a r6 what kind of insurance rates am I looking at yearly in London? What would be the more quicker street bike type options because I've road dirt bikes my whole life and a slowwww bike is gonna get on my nerves after about a week lol... I never really speed but I was reading these lower 200-250cc enduros top speed is like 80mph and thats a little low for me, I'm lookin for like 110-140mph~ nothing crazy but enough to have some fun on an open road.. thanks a lot and any opinions/information is helpful!

With your current plan, stop at the drug store and by some lube. You'll need it. Ins companies don't care you have dirt bike experience.

Yes you can ride the same day you get your M1.

128kph is plenty fast for our roads. I'd say a 400cc supermoto would be OK price wise for insurance. Nothing wrong with a 250, at least for the first year. They look at something else.

I have a suspicion though that someone is trolling here though. :)

LOL you want a bike with NO street experience that you can drive "110 - 140 MPH on the open road". Unless that was a typo that is 175 - 225 KPH good luck with that one, the cops will LOVE you. Don't worry about what insurance will cost you because after your first taste of HTA 172 it really won't matter...LMAO

Yeah, R6, gsxr, they'll all cost you $4-7 thousand/year. A kawasaki klx250 sm will still cost you $2000-4000. Go small or buy a car.

If you have had your g license since you were 16 then insurance from state farm would be in the $3000-6000/year range for an R6.
Also remember cancelling insurance in the winter won't save you any money as you will still owe over 90% of your yearly premium.

Best bet is look into a 250 ninja, you might be in the $2000-$4000/year range and it will do 140km/hr.

Pretty sure he said he doesn't have a licence yet.. and he wants to START with his bike licence. I took that to mean he doesn't have a G either. Also if he has a G then he should already know he can start using the class of licence as soon as it is issued.

If that is the case as we know SF won't touch him.

But I guess we need to see if he has a G or this is his first trip to Service Ontario

i have plenty of street experience lol, been driving my dirtbike in the city streets for years! i just dont get caught lol.. and i had a cr500r bored that would do about 100mph in the dirt lol - so upping it to 140 on the street isnt a big deal in my opinion.. i ride with my buddies constantly that all own fast cars.. i didn't really want anyones opinion on safety or how fast i should be going, im just looking for information regarding fastest bike for lowest rates for someone who doesn't have ANY license.. i'm not stupid either i would go on google maps and find deserted straights where I could use the bike to its potential lol, I'm not that moron you see on youtube going 300km/h on the 401.. lookin like maybe a 250 is the way to go for now

the main reason i don't really want a 250 sport bike type bike is they all look small lol, and im massive.. 6'2 280 pounds - i think i would look retarded on a little 250cc lol - im kinda thinking the yamaha wr250x

You may have all that "experience" riding on the street, but it won't make a lick of a difference to the insurance company they are sort of fussy like that. They want LEGAL experience, You know with a plated, insurance and licenced rider..lol Your right "upping it to 140 on the street" isn't a big deal, unless you happen to run into a grouchy cop, then it will make a BIG difference..LOL

As others have stated in answering your question for someone with your age, your driving experience the "fastest bike for the lowest rates" will be a 250, Well actually a 125 but given your size that really isn't an option. Just like everyone else who rides in Ontario, your going to have to start small and after several years then it will become "more" affordable, to look at "faster" options.

Good luck, BTW the ONLY people who can "properly" answer your question is an insurance agent/broker, as they will give you the only figure that will count...the one you will be paying. With no G your going to be VERY limited in the companies that will cover you..
