****ing old man merges into my lane TWICE

Regardless of whose right or wrong in the video people in the gta need to learn how to merge. When traffic is backed up for miles you need to let people in when their lane is ending. 1 and 1 is a good way to keep both lanes flowing.

I think that there are a few more lessons to be learnt, before that one.

Jlin ride more offensively and defensively. In the grand scheme of things Bike vs Car/truck anything on 4 wheels. The bike will always come out on the losing side. The horn has it's purpose too, don't be afraid to use it , those few seconds may make a huge difference. If you have taken any riding courses they tell you to anticipate and look ahead. You are invisible out there, drivers will look you in the eye and still come in your lane or pull out in front of you.

First one looked dangerous. Second one you can do something about it, block him out.

Next time post something interesting, or funny.

Oh Come on Jay
This is Interesting AND funny

It's interesting how the Bike doesn't feel the need to let someone in But instead try to block the car
It's Interesting how the Bikes Horn sound an awful lot like an exhaust

And it's funny how the bike is more interested in starting a confrontation than of watching the road ahead.

lack of horn confuses me and the road rage.

brb going to rev the bike to let the cage know I'm there.

what ****** me off most is he pretends like he doesn't even notice me

re re re revving and slipping your clutch in order to communicate you are 'there' is not conducive to quick traffic communication. But it is conducive to abusing your clutch and will be why you will need a new clutch at 6200km instead of 102000 km.
The horn is louder, quicker, better. As would be your brakes, since you were stopped or almost stopped. The only way I would have used my clutch in that scene is if I had already determined that a garbage truck driver behind me was riding my *** and had been paying more attention to the hot squeeze walking up the sidewalk, than making sure he didn't run over me. And even then, it would have not been a re re re rev thing. That just wastes time and costs you bucks.

But we know what the re re re rev thing was about, it was "hey you bastard...oh no you don't!" The typical GTA mindset, "me first" even if it means putting yourself in peril. Typical inexperience.
You did better on the DVP one..but the prick should have waved a thank you.

Yeah I didn't see anything that bad, the first one looked kind of sketchy... personally I would have just rode past as if nothing happened.. :/

+1

OP, where did you expect the cager to go? Over the guardrail and into the weeds for you? Either allowing vehicles to merge in, or changing lanes to open up the merge lane is common courtesy. Not allowing people to merge onto the highway is just plain rude. You're at fault.

Pretty sure he let the car infront of the Honda in, the old man just got greedy and wanted in instead of slowing down

people who think I should use the horn I agree with you but the problem with most motorcycle horns (including mine) is that they are quiet. I think My exhaust is louder and it helps rid my engine of some carbon as a bonus :D

Funny thing about courtesy; it goes both ways. Why did the cager run to the end of the merge lane, then expect that he'd be able to force his way in?

Of course there are always people who stay on the bumper of the car in front of them so that someone merging cannot get in, and are forced to go all the way to the end of the merge lane to keep from stopping traffic behind them. I hate those people (the people who won't allow traffic to merge on). When I get onto the highway, I try to get two lanes over as soon as possible to allow others to merge, and not end up in the tangle. When I find myself in the far right lane, I let people in because I would like to be treated the same way in kind. I think the problem is that there are too many inconsiderate drivers on the road, or they seem to think that letting a car or two in will somehow add an hour to their travel time.

If everyone just let others in, traffic would actually flow much better.

I let considerate drivers in, who signal and don't try to run up past another 10 cars by going to the end of the merge lane. I feel no need to be considerate, to the inconsiderate.

I compare people who wait very last minute to merge to people who cut in front of you in line. Sure it may only add a few minutes to your commute but it's the principle that counts. People should be taught that doing that kind of **** is frowned upon and perhaps thinking twice before doing it again. I usually leave space for people to merge wayyy before the lane ends but if I see them zoom pass that space I won't be so considerate when I see their lane ending

You mean like this arse in the dark gray SUV in my pic? I took this pic on the Gardiner on-ramp from Spadina. It's a really long merge lane, but there always seems to be some jerk who tries to make that lane 10x longer than it actually is. Just to get past a few more cars as if that's going to shave hours off their travel time. LOL

Their time is so much more valuable, than that of everyone else. If they didn't do this crap then both they, and everyone else, would get home faster.

You mean like that picture I posted, above?

The problem, there, is that over-wide right lane. People convince themselves that the merge lane goes on forever when the first sign ends the lane, then the second one states that the lane narrows. I've seen cars blow by, on the right, at more than 30 Kmh over the speed, of other traffic.

Exactly. There are just as many mergers who fall victim to right-laners not letting them in as there are right-laners who fall victim to people using the merging lane as an express queue-jumping lane.

That particular merge lane isn't that long, and traffic was heavy. I can see someone being shut out of being allowed to merge easily enough in that sort of situation.

Re-read what Rob wrote. Read it out loud to yourself if that's what you need to do to grasp the gist of it.

Letting in cars merging one for one works quite well. Problem is, you get egocentric sphincters hugging the bumper of the person you're letting in (who's already driven past the end of the merge lane) figuring they're important, and you should come to a complete stop in the right lane so they can squeeze in too.

what ****** me off most is that you pretend like you didn't even see him

You might want to take a refresher course to teach you how to look ahead and anticipate obstacles

But you don't think that there's an issue with a so-called professional driver, who stops dead on a clear ramp?

I watched the video. He wasn't exactly owning his lane. I don't see the point in fighting with cagers when you're on a bike. It's a losing battle for the rider. Guaranteed. Being assertive to a certain degree is fine when it comes to merging traffic on the highway. Going beyond that might get you killed. And you know what? There will always be egocentric jerks in cars and on bikes. E.g., You wouldn't believe the number of times I've seen idiots on bikes sprint up the merge lane AND then the shoulder on the 410 just after the 407 to get past rush hour traffic. That's some serious ego.
