Talking in another thread about just how terrible drivers are becoming (including ourselves at times)
I drive and ride very little now compared to a few years ago. My commute to the office is about 15km's now and my driving is usually going into town for groceries etc.
I live on a dirt road and often times I'm the only car/bike on it.
But when I do pull out onto more populated roads, I see too many things that concern me and would like to have some protection against scams, accidents, tickets etc.

I don't want to buy a fully integrated dashcam system for the limited amount I drive/ride. I own a good phone (newest Pixel) and saw this app, has anyone had any experience with it?

I also have a quadlock case so this mount would prove useful as well for both cars. and would not block the camera.

For 60 bux, I think it might be worth it, any thoughts or other idea's?

I buy this for all my cars.

easy/non existent setup required, fits flush to the angle of the windscreen so nothing hanging down or blocking the dash (personal pet peeve). requires a separate SD card

How hard is it to hardwire in?
only need to hardwire systems in if you want the parking - motion detector features; then you`re splicing into the wires.

otherwise it plugs into a 12v socket or usb port.

Nice but can't move it from car to car also no use on the bike. But I do like the looks and ease of setup.

Inexpensive?

Viofo hands down.

If you are willing to spend some money: Blackvue, Thinkware
Not interested in spending any money. I drive maybe 20 minutes a day, and that should come to an end in December.

technically possible, if you got ahold of another mounting system and wires, but yeah not ideal.

certainly no good for bike, no.

FWIW, the A119 V2 that I bought came with some stick-on cable guides. Between those and running the power cable behind an A-pillar panel and the dashboard, the dashcam was very low profile - some passengers were surprised to see me point it out.

Also though, nothing exciting happened in front of me ever again after I installed it.

Good timing. As I’m not 100% of keeping the GTI I need a cheap camera. I’ve got a Thinkware laying around from the Volt, but damned if I find it.

Would prefer battery so no wires, but may just live with ghetto hanging wire until I decide on a car.

not hard to tuck it under the trim and roof liner, the one i linked comes with a plastic trim tool to pull back the A pillar cover and some sticky pads to run the wire.

I’ve got the same in a couple of my cars

I was over at Lockdown Security 2 months ago to get a new dual camera setup along with an external auxiliary battery (all Thinkware products).
Granted, I plan to keep this car for 10+ years but its amazing how clean the install was along with phone app integrations!

I think Lockdown has pricing to just install a camera as well if you provide the unit and cable (assuming you want it hardwired).

I’ve used Audio Heaven for most of my installs. Guy I used stopped responding so I went back to AH and am happy with their work.

Depends on your socket(s). If it's switched, yes. If it's wired live to the fusebox, no. My current vehicle has dual sockets in the dash/console under the radio, one of each. First time I'd seen that.

Garmin 46. Great cam, not affected by heat or Cold. Small, easy to mount ( magnetic on the windshield. Gps city refurbished $150.
Has lane depart, red Light cam notification etc.

Usually one or both under the arm rest.
