I'm obsessed with dragging my knee

I had got a little carried away after getting my knee down at Mosport. I had the thin sliders that came with the suit (not the red ones) and they melted down like butter. Didn't realize at the time the damage I was doing....I was literally dragging my knee:(

Pic : I had no idea I would be leaning that much on my last outing, that I will have to remove my centrestand at the next track day.

WTG Sunny! I knew it was just a matter of time. Unfortunately now you need spools and stands heheheh.

I remember a track instruction day where I asked the racer who was coaching us on tips on how to drag knee.

His response was, "Why would you want to do that? I'm trying so hard to get my knee out of the way!"

And now I'm finding that knee-dragging is actually making me slow. As soon as I touch down, I stop leaning, and my lean angle and corner speed sucks because of it. Now I have to focus on keeping the knee closer to the bike - to get my knee out of the way.

Just work on your corner speed, the knee will get closer to the ground. And when that happens, you'll have to figure out a way to get your knee out of the way as well.

i say you should go out and get that knee down once you get that out of the way then focus and going faster. in order to go faster you will have to learn how to be smooth. the smoother you are the faster you go and the last thing you will think about is your knee toching down. your new concern will be things like suspension setup, tire choices, gearing, etc.....

Dragging your knee has NOTHING to do with going fast.

as soon as you forget about it, you'll go faster.
+1
Just because you can drag knee will not make you faster, if you are trying to do it on purpose it will actually make you slower, as you are concentrating on that instead of your line, speed...etc

I get the obsession with doing it once.

But after that....knee pucks ain't cheap so what's the point!

You don't need to be going fast to drag a knee ... I've dragged a knee going 40kph before in a parking lot just for kicks...

Edit: Repeat

I don't know? I'm just a newbie trying to learn how to go fast while not killing myself.
going fast has nothing to do with putting your knee down

Edit: Damm you Reciprocity.....

Pucks are expensive. All the money that you save, by not dragging a knee, can go into practice, maintenance, and tires.

TMP...allows you to have your centre stand on!!!!!!......now I've heard everything.....WTF

My wife is possibly the 2nd fastest women on track in Canada, and faster than a lot of guys too (easy on the jokes recip :) ). She rarely touches her knee down.
