If you didn't have to work anymore...

43 working days to go until retirement. Leaving on this solo trip early July!

I envy you my friend. Great plan, nice ride. That will be a memorable experience. Keep safe!

I dropped out of the race 18 yrs ago.
AKA "Freedom 40".
Still dreaming.

I doubt I'll ever retire, I ****** my youth away. It was fun, but in 20-30 years, I'll be your greeter at Walmart. And still dreaming...

Assuming I still had the income, I would be in Europe as much as possible. One day's ride and you get ocean, mountains, plains (if you like that) and amazing scenery.
In other words, I would be out of Ontario ASAP.

hahaha, that was a classic misinterpretation on my part. :) Here I was thinking, this lucky bastard. He must have more cash than Sonny with the Lambo/Sick Rides of other various types. :D

Not that lucky unfortunately. Should have married for money. This working for a living is bull ****

Some great stories and dreams here!

I guess a good plan for Europe would be to fly there, buy a bike from a dealer, do your weeks/months/years of riding, and sell it back to the dealer at an obvious loss (which would still be a win). Better than renting a bike. Come to think of it, that would be a great plan for the US (i.e. California coast) as well. Can a Canadian buy a bike and get it plated in the US?

If you have retired, what is your bike line-up?

First I'd hit the road for an indeterminate amount of time. My wife and I have a trailer and she loves it so I'd ride and she'd take the trailer. So it would be like having a support vehicle and mobile home. Of course we'd switch up once in awhile to be fair.

We may or may not come back to southern Ontario to live full time. After living minimalistically for so long and seeing the need in other parts of the world or even north or central america, living in the middle class may seem too affluent which brings me to my second point -- would anybody consider doing any charity work? I could see myself using my skills and time to volunteer at some organization(s) I believe in.

Wow, I sound like a hippy, lol!

It is not very easy from the sound of it. My wife's parents stay in Florida for half the year and they were considering it.

I am thinking of flying to Edmonton or Calgary, buy a bike there and ride it to the west coast and then south to San Diego, and back up through some of the popular routes in the Toronto to Los Angeles thread right now.

Ducati 848 Corse SE, WR450SM, Husqvarna TE611. Move to L.A. for California sun. I'd like to tour Europe, too.

Out of North America. Probably Australia or Europe. Nice busa to tour around on. Mv f4rr, s1000rr and a monster just so I had variety. I'd likely drive my 911 more though.

If I won a ton of money I'd get rid of everything, buy a new computer and ask people what they would do if they had my money.

BMW S1000R
HD Super Glide Custom
CBR1000RR Repsol
Aprilia Tuono
The new VFR800

I'd go up and down the PCH, alternating bikes every day.

I guess I'd need two of each, one set waiting for me in San Diego, the other one in Frisco.

Yeah, that'd work.

Ride my F2(best bike ever why change it?) in the alps with my skis strapped to it. Spring ski touring :)

I will never retire. Especially being in the trades. So many of us retire as die!
I love to work. More so love to work and go on 2 good trips a year.
But with the question on hand, I'd probably work 4 days a week, travel much more. And as for bikes is love a couple track bikes and a nice trailer to put them in.

Nothing crazy!

I'd get into a 23-26 foot sailboat, starting the hobby at ground zero.

I know a guy whos doing this already!

$75 an hour for 100 hours a week....you'd be there as well....

not at all! I have always believed a portion of a windfall of money must go towards humanitarian aid....one just doesn't end up with a god given gift like that without just purpose.

...That being said... I want the ninja 300s bigger brother - the zx 6r and a Ducati 999 !

I have no idea what that means but I'm sure it's the ticket.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) my 'terrible twenties' were a decade of partying and traveling the world with a couple of degrees mixed in too, so my retirement will have to wait at least until I am 60 unless I win a lottery -- in which case I would just buy a dozen or so different bikes and ride the piss out of them.

Well if I was rich enough & not have to worry about money & retire now I would!

If I won the lottery then it would be a totally different story...I would definitely buy the Ducati Desmosedici & the Superleggera among other bikes like the Suzuki RGV 250, 1990 Kawsaki ZXR750 & the KR1-S 250, Honda NSR250RR or 400, Honda NR750R...so basically collectors bikes & cars then I would get me a nice house somewhere warm all year round to where I can ride all the time!
