Two points to this low speed crash: jeans are pointless, and textile jackets, even from well marketed brands may not be worth buying.

Actually - I believe the handle-bar/lever ripped the jacket open - not the asphalt (which I assume you were suggesting).

What caused that low side? Everything seemed okay and then the front gave out

Here is my two cents.. I am far from an expert..

I think he leaned in to much for his low speed and foot peg grabbed the asphalt

Any experts want to chime in?

looks like his foot touched the ground and it went downhill from there.. literally;)
and yeahh it looks like the jacket was caught in the bars n caused the rip
same thing happened to a girl @ the rider training course today.. she went down hard but was ok later on
she was wearing leathers :)

I don't consider Icon real gear. They have no racing pedigree.

whatever, his jacket tore, because of the bar or asphalt, dude has a banged up knee, it happens....

what makes me cringe is his face bouncing off the pavement, he should be happy he had that full face helmet

textile is kinda a one time use thing. Not like leather. I'd say it worked fine for what it was.

What I would expect.

Jeans will rip open if you trip and fall while walking so it's not surprising they rip open so easily when you crash a bike. Textile is a step above a nylon windbreaker. Kevlar is the only exception.

Leather will generally last through a few small crashes like this one.

I concur. Not a fan of Icon products, they seem to try too hard when it comes to flashy and not try much at all when it comes to other things.

Jeans are like paper when it comes to accidents. Totally useless. Good to at least wear some shin/knee pads. Those are very cheap.

They do a good job making Douchevest

Some of their top of the line leather stuff is actually pretty nice and well made. But yea, they don't focus on racing...its all street stuff and there's nothing wrong with that either. A lot of people either don't want race fit for daily riding or simply can't fit into it.

Having watched the 'twist the wrist' video on the other thread, I consider myself to be an expert on this now.

Too much pressure on the front wheel, creating less pressure on the back wheel and losing traction going into the turn. He needed to roll the wrist through the turn increasing the pressure on the back tire and thus create more of a shared weight distribution on the bike going through the turn.

:D

I can't deal with a large logo on all their garments. If they were ahead of the game I would understand, but they're far from it
