i will never go to kahuna again

Hit & miss for me at Kahuna. Parts was useless. Ordered a crush gasket. 1.50 part; they said it would be 2 weeks. They ordered it without payment (so cheap, what does it matter?). 2.5 weeks later, got it off the shelf at the Superstore. Kahuna parts called me two months later to inform me that the part was in. I had forgotten all about it, and once I realized what they were calling for, couldn't control it and burst out laughing on the phone.

One guy was really helpful, though he looked to maybe be one of the owners or something.

One of the sales guys was a bit of a jerk when he worked at McBride. . .shorter, a bit heavy, short grayish hair.
In 06 was shopping for a bike with an MSRP of 10,000$. Lots of people around his desk, I just wrote my offer of 10,000 cash on a post it when he asked how much I could offer him for it. He looked at it, laughed and threw it in the garbage. Same deal accepted no issues at his competitor. Just can't support businesses that employ people like that.

Sounds like Rod, he doesn't need your sale anyway he "sells ten motorcycles a day in the middle of winter"

I've purchased two bikes from them . I got a fair deal on both purchases. I only deal with Norm in sales.

Good experience with their service and parts also.

Why would you say that it's a mistake to deal with Norm ? I have nothing but good things to say about my experiences - dealings with Norm. If fact on my last purchase I saved over $600.00 compared to other dealers for the exact same bike., without any hassel. The bike was ready when promised. He knew who I was (returning customer 3 years prior) and treated me as such right from the start.

Anyway I'm not here to promote the dealer in any way. Just giving my feedback on my experiences.

Norm used to work at Cycle World West, when it was open. Norm and Peter (the then General Manager) burned me badly, after I had dealt with that shop for something like 16 years and had bought 5 bikes from them, let alone the thousands in service and accessories that they had made from me. It cost me a couple of thousand dollars.

When I saw Norm's name on an email response I got to a quote request, I decided not to buy from them. A follow-up from Allan Blinoff, who was the manager there at the time, turned me around on that based on him personally handling the sale. I told him that if Norm was in any way involved, I would not buy from them.

I've had mixed experiences there myself. Bad: telling me they had a brand of women's leather riding pants in stock, so when I drove all the way down there to find out the guy on the phone was full of BS and they had nothing of the sort, I was POed for the waste of time. Good: They ordered a weird EX500 part for me from Japan and kept me in the loop as to where it was enroute. Good: They have some good sales, like A* GP Supertech Rs for less than half price!

I was at their sale a couple weeks ago and picked up a Joe Rocket Mesh Jacket for half price, staff was very friendly. I even bought chain clean and lube and they gave me 25% off on those as well.

Half price and 25% off means nothing when the original price is inflated through the roof as is the case in Kahuna, more often than not. I have never seen anything at Kahuna that I couldn't buy cheaper at another local shop, not even talking about online. The only reason the place exists is because they feed on noobies while selling them their Ninja 250s.

I know Alan - he sold me my first bike at McBride's. I bought a second bike from them, and had some pretty serious warranty issues with it. Throughout the process, Alan was honest and upfront with me about how poor my chances were of having the claim honoured, and shortly after that McBride's closed.

I bought a third bike - an FZ1 - from Alan personally at Kahuna. He gave me a fair price on it, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone deal with him.

I'm glad to hear he's treating other people well. I can't speak for the rest of the folks at the dealership, though...

I got a pair of Sidi Vortice for 100 bucks cheaper then competitors.... expensive boots but I was happy. I didn't get any at counter discounts, that was simply the price marked on them.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned above, it doesn't seem like Alan is with Kahuna anymore. That's a pity. Given my issues with Cycle World in the last couple of years that they were in business I didn't get to meet him when he presided over their closing, but I had a nice long talk with him at Kahuna when I bought my current bike. Seemed to be a good guy and I go ta good read from him.

Out of all the bike shops, Kahuna gave me the best deal on a new bike. I literally saved thousands of $$$ with these guys. Nothing but good reviews here.
