I want a good Barbecue

Char-Broil Red 500 Gas Grill

I bought this last year and love it. Cooks great and can't burn anything unless you leave it on for a long time. There are no flames that can reach the food. I have done bacon wrapped chicken, put it on the grill, go inside for 15 mins, come out flip chicken over go inside for another 7 mins, come out chcken and bacon cooked perfect. try doing that on any other bbq and see whats left after that long without standing there to watch it.

I will be the first one to dis Weber (just a little) I guess. I bought one years ago as a treat for all the overtime I had worked. I got a big one, and like Backmarkerducati mentioned, the burners go side to side. I found that the heat was irregular, with the end furthest from the controls being considerably cooler. Not a major problem, you just need to watch stuff and move it around to even out the cooking; I didn't expect to have to do that with a BBQ that expensive. Other than that I use it a lot, and have only had to replace the burners once and the igniter once in 12 years. It sits outside with no cover (as mentioned above, when I first got it, I put the cover on it, but that seemed to hold moisture against it and I felt it was better without it) in the snow and rain, which may have contributed to the need for replacement parts.

My BBQ is on the way out, the frame is going and I am tired of replacing the crappy grills and such every year or less. I am also tired of buying offshore **** and would like to buy a really good North American made product. Research is pointing me to Weber but I don't know anyone that has forked over the loot to buy one.

Anyone here have a Weber or Broil King our another North American made BBQ. Your findings?

I prefer charcoal over gas and have been very happy with my Weber kettle. That said, a buddy of mine picked up a big green egg recently and I have been dying to test it out.

Crown Verity, made in Brantford Ont. the grill God probably wants , on par with Viking. Makes Weber salesman cry.

And since we are on this, everybody that thinks they have a BBQ step away from your keyboard, you are unworthy. BBQ is a style of cooking not the machine. You all own a grill. BBQ happens with fire and smoke and is a pork dish, unless there is somebody from Texas in the room. They think beef could be BBQ, they also are wrong.

not that i have an opinion on this......

Crankcall,

Dunno, I love a pork shoulder or butt, but I've had some damned good brisket too and I'd call it all bbq.

Your right enough about brisket, its BBQ according to the BBQ competition rules. And its damn tasty.

My brother lived for a couple years in Carolina, hanging out down there has possibly clouded my thoughts. Its all pig in the Carolinas
